Surprising Performance By Rubio in Iowa
2/1/2016 | By Laz A. Mataz

If there was any one shock out of the Iowa Caucus, it was Marco Rubio's performance.

He was extremely low-profile in Iowa, yet the numbers (at 99% counted) were:

Ted Cruz: 43,221, or 28%
Donald Trump: 38,029, or 24%
Marco Rubi: 35,791, or 23%

I'm not sure how this is even possible, except for this possibility: If Iowa has an open primary, the Democrats went in to vote for Rubio. I note that the ENTIRE Democrat field didn't even register 1,500 votes.

The establishment has been very busy, and it may well be that they pulled a Thad Cochran / Mississipi move.

Other than that, I am at a complete loss to explain Rubio's exceptional performance tonight.

Iowa is not Establishment, though, or at least I wouldn’t think they are. I suspect the Dems all voted Rubio.

That's what informs me that this may have been an Operation Chaos move.

Dem’s operation chaos. Only explanation for Gang of 8 being in top 3. Cruz and Trump need to play nice and start hammering Rubio. I’m sure GOPe is giddy!!

“Other than that, I am at a complete loss to explain Rubio’s exceptional performance tonight.”

Look at the demographics of Iowa

There are what 15 Blacks 25 Hispanics in the entire State?

It is probably one of the States least affected by the invasion.

It is also a State that would have little interest in manufacturing jobs, tariff wars or HB-1 Visas

Rubio took the big county Polk and two surrounding counties Dallas and Story that kept Trump from winning Iowa. The difference.

“I note that the ENTIRE Democrat field didn’t even register 1,500 votes.”

In the whole state?? Is that true? Iowa is bizzare.

College towns also gave Rubio a boost, and they are not noted for being Republican.

This was very likely an Operation Chaos.

Heard something about Trumpsters crossing the line for Rubio. I can’t say that’s what happened, it is just what I heard.

The Dems report delegates, the Reps raw votes.

Not surprising when you factor in the very, very low sowing of the other establishment candidates. They are gathering around their “can win” guy, just as everyone expected. But do not fall for the spin. Third place is third place. There are two candidates in front of him.

Yup. At 86% in, we have 586 Bernie Sanders 594 Hillary Clinton, and 19 OMalley.

There’s not the slightest whisper of a chance that the Dem turnout would really be that low.

The Dems voted in Republican primaries, that can be the only explanation.
