Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling says the current uproar over the diversity of this year’s Academy Awards is unfair to the white actors who were nominated.
“It is racist to whites,†Rampling, who is nominated for best actress for her role in the British film 45 Years, told French radio station Europe 1 on Friday morning, in comments that were translated from French.

It rather is, because what it is perceived they are demanding is that someone be nominated SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY ARE BLACK. Is that not the very definition of racism?
Excellent point!! Except for a few that I know and like, I certainly don't care what blacks think of me. But then that applies to white people, too. I'm more concerned with what I think of them.
Very few people saw Zardoz. Incidently, she made a habit (a very pleasant habit) of getting nude in most of her early movies. I don’t know if I would want to see that in “45 years”.
I’ll never be convinced they matter until they comport themselves in a manner that represents that they actually do.

That was the change you saw in the ‘60s.
In the early and middle ‘60s , the message was, blacks want to be responsible middle-class citizens like whites.
But by the end of the decade, traditional values were scorned as “white oppression,” victimhood was embraced, and it’s been downhill ever since.
And maybe that was all part of the plan?

Yes, we went from ‘all people are equal’ to ‘all cultures are equal’.

In other news, High School prom queens are not elected based on merit.
They are highly subjective awards created with the sole intent of boosting industry revenue. They aren’t based on an objective system devoid of personal politics like the Nobel Prize...oh wait...
Zardoz was one of the craziest movies I ever saw...best scene was when all the old immortals were begging Sean Connery to kill them,and then singing as he did...
On early to mid ‘60s TV, the black characters were generally quiet, buttoned-down types who were working hard to achieve The American Dream.
The message was, what blacks wanted was the opportunity to become traditional middle class Americans.
And that was what whites thought of as being the goal of the civil rights movement.

Charlton Heston was at MLK’s “I Have A Dream” speech, but the Left lambasted him as an Extreme Right-Winger.
Yet, Heston’s views never changed.
