Will Smith broke his silence this morning about the controversy surrounding his wife’s Oscar boycott, saying that he also won’t be attending this year’s ceremony because he believes that Hollywood is ‘going in the wrong direction’ when it comes to diversity. The 47-year-old star of Concussion sat down with ABC’s Robin Roberts on Good Morning America to share his thoughts on this year’s overwhelmingly white Academy Award nominations, and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s videotaped call to action ‘I think that diversity is the American superpower. That's why we're great,’ he told Roberts.

When are they? I'll use the time to watch Atlas Shrugged Part III, it has such a happy ending...lol. The conversation between Hugh and Dagny at Hugh's vineyard was one of the best scenes in the movie.
I hope they include Project X in the upcoming miniseries. IMO, I think Albert Ruddy (the producer) will follow the lead of The Big Short, i.e. taking some artistic license to make AS come alive to a larger audience.

...good question. It’s impossible for blacks to discriminate. Magazines like “Jet”, “Black Enterprise”, “Ebony” are the best example of this. Some will argue that we should have “White Enterprise” and “White Entertainment Television”. That’s a weak argument. If I were black, I’d be embarrassed by these magazines, the Oscars, BLM, Kwanzaa, Black History Month etc. I’d be embarrassed to buy a “white” publication. It would make me feel like I’m not good enough to be American. I would feel like it was a crutch.

Oscars are about the caliber of the work itself, voted by the members of the industry itself. I have not always agreed with who was nominated, but that’s not the point.
For people that state there is no black skinned actors/directors nominated, is to want work to be nominated based on skin color quotas. X number of other skin colors and X of black skin. Not whether the work deserves an Oscar nomination! In other words Affirmative Action for Oscar nominations!
The BET Awards already celebrates individuals with black skin for their work in Entertainment.
I think black skinned people would rather not have quotas. If they do put quotas in the Oscars, black skinned people would wonder if they got there because their work was good enough or whether it just because their filling the black skin quota.

Will Smith doesn’t cheat on his wife. They have an “open” marriage. Not sure that Jada is aware of this, though.

Since the massive cross-border invasion, I would suspect the black population has dropped from 12% to maybe 10%. Assuming that is correct, then out of 100 Oscar nominees we should statistically expect 10 blacks. Anybody done the Oscar math yet?
I think the solution her is very simple, that is, just do away with the Oscars. There are enough award shows to satisfy everyone’s desire for a take home trophy for mostly subpar work. The Oscars have just run their course.
