With the price of oil being so low, this would be a good time to phase-out putting ethanol in our gasoline.

Probably should have said $1.85 instead. I wonder if that’s what’s listed at the pump?

If this continues all that will be left of the gas prices will be taxes and surcharges.

With the low prices of oil, there are winners and losers. For me, I am a winner. My commute costs are down, and with retail sales in the tank my money is going further. Except for food, retail prices are falling in my neck of the woods. I live in the oil-patch area in Louisiana, and the economy is bad. Not since Jimmy Carter was president has it been this bad. The losers are the people who count on the money that the oil workers make. When the oil companies start laying of people, the boat companies tie up boats. The boat companies spend a lot of money on food, but a boat that is tied up does not need food. The grocery companies then lay off some of the employees that would fill the boat orders and the drivers who would take the food to the boats. One of our local stores has parked all of it's delivery trucks.
So now we have high paid oil workers who are not spending money. People who worked on the boats are not spending money. The laid off grocery store employees are not spending money. Retailers are cutting back and laying off employees. And I could go on for hours. My local economy is also grinding to a halt.

No. I like it the cheapest possible. And for the energy companies to lay off people have getting billions the last few years is nasty. They have way more then enough money to keep them all on the bankroll. This is why they have a terrible reputation.
To: Jhadur
Wow - I thought it a misprint. Don’t need to go there though.

Instead of that you could just give them some extra money. Let others who are also having a tough time at least enjoy the lower gas prices for now.

Abdo-lutely! Good band too! She has such a personality! We were looking for a drummer, and Tom Yuckum showed up with girlfriend, Amy. He said he wouldn’t join unless we let Amy in too. I was,,,, “Like, ditch the drummer! But grab up Amy!”

Naps - Before you start lambasting the oil companies you should know that my neighbors worked for small companies that supplied equipment and piping to oil companies and not the oil companies themselves. There are thousands of people here in Texas that rely on the oil companies staying in business so that their employer can run a profitable business and retain them.
Besides that, since when is it so bad that a company makes a profit?
