The brutal 1820s frontier revenge thriller "The Revenant" landed a leading 12 nominations for the 88th annual Academy Awards, while the acting categories were again filled entirely by white performers a year after the Oscars came under withering criticism over its lack of diversity.

The strong showing Thursday for "The Revenant," including a best actor nod for Leonardo DiCaprio and best supporting actor for Tom Hardy, follows its win at the Golden Globes. It sets up director Alejandro Inarritu for a possible back-to-back win following his sweep of best picture, director and screenplay for "Birdman" last year. ...

It was Leo does Jeremiah Johnson

I think it was more Leo does Man in the Wilderness.

I know they have talent but how often should Denziel, Will and Jamie get nominated?

Why should the level of excellence in an actor’s performance have anything whatsoever to do with race?

Because the left told us so.

Time to start issuing “Participation Oscars” to all involved in the movie industry.

I’d rather watch MAN IN THE WILDERNESS with Richard Harris again.

Danish Girl will win best actor.

Same guy who won last year? Doubtful.

Eddie's no Meryl Streep or Kate Hepburn.

He's not even American.

How many can name the best picture from last year. Always an interesting test and how many have seen it? To get even harder name the best actor and actress.

I would like to see a film about Jedediah Smith.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jedediah_Smith#Bear_attack_and_South_Pass

He and 10 to 16 men left from there to make their way overland to the Rocky Mountains.[27] While looking for the Crow tribe to obtain fresh horses and get westward directions, Jedediah was stalked and attacked by a large grizzly bear. The huge bear tackled Smith to the ground. Smith’s ribs were broken and members of his party witnessed him fight the bear, which ripped open his side with its claws and took his head in its mouth.

The bear suddenly retreated, and the men ran to help Smith. They found his scalp and ear nearly ripped off, but he convinced a friend, Jim Clyman, to sew it loosely back on, giving him directions. The trappers fetched water, bound up his broken ribs, and cleaned his wounds.[28] After recuperating from his bloody wounds and broken ribs, Jedediah wore his hair long to cover the large scar from his eyebrow to his ear.[29]

Or even John Coulter.

Colter was motioned, told in Crow to leave, and encouraged to run. It soon became apparent that he was running for his life pursued by a large pack of young braves.

A fast runner, after several miles the still-naked Colter was exhausted and bleeding from his nose but far ahead of most of the group with only one assailant still close to him.[9] He then managed to overcome the lone man:

Or even a REAL HISTORY of Jim Beckwourth.

Yup. He won for The Theory of Everything:

Of course, they could still give him another one, but a big enough slice of the judges might want to give it to somebody else, maybe DiCaprio.

Funny thing, a lot of the actors that I assumed were rough Irish Colin Farrell types actually went to Britain's posh Eton College: Dominic West, Damian Lewis, Eddie Redmayne. With names like "Dominic" and "Damian," I should have figured, but "Eddie"?

Al Sharpasapin will have another Red Carpet protest ,oh wait I think he received hush money last year to go away

Al Sharpton was known for those shenanigans 30 years ago and even then the entertainment industry knew that he'd leave when he got his payoff.
