Who was Aldo Mario Bellei, and why should Donald Trump care and Harvard Professor Laurence Tribe know? Because Mr. Bellei puts the lie to Donald Trump's attack on the eligibility of Senator Ted Cruz to be president backed up by Professor Tribe's claim that "[t]he Supreme Court has never addressed the issue.

rump is not saying Cruz is ineligible. He is saying the democrats will sue and motion for declaratory judgment. That will cast an enormous cloud of uncertainty while waiting for the decision.

Trump is unfortunately right.

But Ted as Donald’s VP for 8 years will allow the issue to be settled so that Ted can run in 2024.

Trump is stirring the pot to get Ted voters.
In your dreams. A principled man like Ted will never work for a pretend braggart with so little knowledge, who waves the bible and can’t say his favorite verse and trashed Scalia.

The year of the ruling is not the factor, it is what the law was at the time of his birth.

No, it's what the law was in 1787 when the condition of being a "natural citizen" became the requirement for the Presidency.

NBC is not defined in the Constitution. Everyone keeps saying that SCOTUS must decide this. I think they already have.

> “It hasn’t affected Obama, why would it affect Cruz? “

Hawaii versus Canada.

I don’t believe Obama is a real person born naturally in the USA because of the circumstantial evidence I’ve seen and because of his Cultural Marxist behavior.

I more than believe, I know that Ted Cruz is eligible because of the research I have done. I have settled the question for me. That doesn’t mean the question is settled for the electorate.

We both know exactly how he handled TPA, so don’t try to play dumb. I voted for the guy 3 times, the primary, the runoff and the general, and I feel betrayed. If you don’t, fine.

.
Obama’s mother was a minor child when he was born.

Minors do not convey birth status.

Pray tell what was the law in 1787?

...then so is the King of Jordan.

Nope. The King of Jordan's mother relinquished her American citizenship when she married King Hussein. Thus, at the time of his birth his mother was NOT an American citizen.

Number 1.
In no way, ever, can Congress change the definition of a word or phrase of the Constitution.
Number 2.
Sorry. You must have already contributed heavily to the Cruz campaign.

You were doing just fine until you wrote “ That will cast an enormous cloud of uncertainty while waiting for the decision.”

That is simply not factual.

No court, even the 9th circus, would participate in that charade.

Why don't you enlighten us, because I have a sneaking suspicion your idea is not really in line with the facts...

True, but I would think the dems would not push it because it would not stop Trump from being President. That was my point.

Donald chooses Ted as his running mate and the dems can in theory, attack Cruz, but they can’t attack Trump. And if they can’t attack and stop Trump, then why bother?

So Trump-Cruz gets in and Ted has plenty of time to settle it. That’s how I see it.

No question in my mind that Cruz is eligible though.

Actually, I believe McCain was born in a Panamanian hospital, but not on base.

Cruz was born an American citizen.

There is no other question, no matter how ignorant you want to look.

Arguments and evidence don’t settle things like this. If he’s a good candidate or president you’ll hear less about this from the right (and more from the left). If he’s a lousy candidate or president it all comes back.

You do know that we have had several presidents in our history that did not meet that standard, right? For example, Chester Arthur was our 21st President. His father was born in Ireland, and became a US citizen in 1843. But Chester was born in 1829. This meant that Arthur had only one US citizen parent (his mother), and was in fact a dual-citizen of both Britain (by his father) and the US (by his mother) for his entire life.

One, (Prior to Obama) does not constitute "Several." Arthur kept his Father's nationality a secret, even going so far as to claim to be born in a different year than he was, to further obfuscate his birth history.

Getting away with a deception does not implicate the country in knowingly tolerating the behavior. They didn't know they were being deceived at the time.

SCOTUS sure did involve themselves in 2000-2001 didn’t they? And I am glad they did.

The democrats and GOP enemies of Cruz (McConnell, McCain, etc.) will find a legal pathway to throw a wrench in the process. That is what Trump is saying and unfortunately he’s right. It doesn’t mean Ted’s enemies will be successful, but it’s certain that the lawsuits will be filed right after the winner is announced at the GOP Convention. And going to the general with this hanging over Ted’s head is not good.

My “idea” is exactly in line with the facts. He said he was fooled by those rascally dems/reps. so, hours before the vote, changed his mind. This, after supporting with influence in the paper.
