Even Donald Trump thought so, at least before Ted Cruz slipped past him to top the Iowa polls. As recently as last August Trump was saying all the legal people he talked to vouched for Ted Cruzâs eligibility to be president. As ABC News reported The Donaldâs flip-flop:
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has reversed his position on Ted Cruzâs eligibility to run for president, now saying his Canadian birthplace shouldnât disqualify him.

One other point, Cruz’s mom told him she had never applied for or sought Canadian citizenship for him. He did not know of that citizenship, but once he did, he renounced it. That might not have been necessary because once he voted in the U.S., any other citizenship is nullified.
I believe someone needs to file a suit to remove Ted Cruz from a ballot for a court to get involved in the issue.
TED CRUZ NATURAL BORN CITIZEN PING
At the time of the drafting and ratification of the United States constitution,
the definition of natural born citizen, combined both the principles of jus soli and jus sanguinis.
The citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens.
As the society cannot exist and perpetuate itself otherwise than by the children of the citizens, those children naturally follow the condition of their fathers, and succeed to all their rights. The society is supposed to desire this, in consequence of what it owes to its own preservation; and it is presumed, as matter of course, that each citizen, on entering into society, reserves to his children the right of becoming members of it. The country of the fathers is therefore that of the children; and these become true citizens merely by their tacit consent. We shall soon see whether, on their coming to the years of discretion, they may renounce their right, and what they owe to the society in which they were born. I say, that, in order to be of the country, it is necessary that a person be born of a father who is a citizen; for, if he is born there of a foreigner, it will be only the place of his birth, and not his country.
Emmerich De Vattel, (1714-1767,) Law of Nations, 1758, § 212, Of the citizens and naturals.

They already have. At least four such cases have been filed and one has already been dismissed.
Precedent Obama has rendered that clause moot.
Under the current definition of simply being born a citizen, if even only on one’s mother’s side, makes every anchor baby and Winston Churchill eligible. (his mother was an American)
I went to school in the 1960’s and was taught that natural born citizen was a subset of citizen and required only for the office of President. Must be born here to citizen parents. Reading the writings of the people who wrote the Constitution confirms this. They wanted no divided allegiance. If you could be anything other than a U.S. citizen, you can’t be a natural born citizen. No foreign births, no foreign parents.
Many people wanted the definition changed for various reasons.
As he’s also trying to “help” him re his religion (not too many evangelicals coming out of Cuba...I’m just sayin’) or his debunked “flip-flop” re ethanol...
Anyone who proclaims to know the answer to this question definitively should be dismissed immediately. Nobody knows for sure if he’s eligible unless SCOTUS rules on it, and 99% chance they won’t. Personally, he was a dual citizen at birth and that makes him ineligible, period. 100% Americans only in the White House.
Exactly... and it's got me baffled, too.
As you were responding, another article was posted with Donald “hinting” that Cruz is pro amnesty...must be getting closer to Feb. 1...
If the Founders adopted De Vattel’s definition of NBC, then under that definition Ted Cruz is ineligible.
However, we do not know that the Founders did, in fact, adopt De Vattel.
Cruz’s eligibility will almost certainly go to the courts. It has to, because now it has become a problematic distraction, much to the glee of the GOPe.
That's absolutely correct. The year that Obozo lived in Indonesia, foreigners were not allowed to attend the muzzie madrasa (school). He would have to had been an Indonesian citizen. This is why his records were sealed.
Obozo may have been an American citizen at birth, but it is believed his mother denounced her/his American citizenship.
His school and passport records would have illustrated this.
That's been done.
Ted Cruz is a Natural Born Citizen in the world as it is since 2008. Before that not so much. At some point after he leaves office or alternatively, after he chooses to not leave office, Hussein will proclaim his Islamitude along with his birth in a more saracen clime.
I was reading an autobiography from one of the Tuskeegee Airman, 1st Lt. H. Jefferson who was a POW in one of the Luftwaffe Stalags. He was interrogated by a German Army Oberleutnant who spoke absolutely idiomatically perfect US English. He told Jefferson that the reason for his perfect English was that he had been born a German citizen and had emigrated to the US when he was 10 years old. His parents had naturalized, and he subsequently became a US citizen by virtue of his parentâs naturalization.
He was visiting Germany as a 21 year old and was trapped there by Hitlers declaration of war on the US on Dec 11, 1941. He was interned for several months as an enemy alien, and was later drafted into the German Army as a Volksdeutch citizen. He fought on the Russian front, was wounded, recuperated and was reassigned to the Italian front in early 1944, where he fought against the US and British forces. Wounded again he was assigned to duty as a POW interrogator, where he met Lt. Jefferson.
After the war, while being detained as a POW, charges against him of treason were weighed by the US attorney. After careful study, it was determined that Germany DID have a legal claim on his allegiance, and that he was a legit German soldier, especially since the man had never taken an oath of loyalty to the US as an adult.
This may be an unusual case, but it serves to illustrate the complications of divided allegiances that the framers sought to avoid with the office of POTUS, and by creating the natural born citizen requirement and having NO other legal allegiances.
Obama is the living breathing personification of the reason for the natural born citizen requirement. By not enforcing it against him, we run the risk of enabling another anti american, lawless, sociopathically lying demagogic usurper like him in the future.
We all know how the Roberts court would rule against Cruz.
LOL! He's trying to help Ted again.
Trump isn't too bright. Iowans see right through this. Three is a pattern.
Trump was my second choice, but I don’t think that I can do this. Trump has exposed himself as just another politician who will say or do anything to get elected. We have had enough poll-driven politicians with no core principles in elected office.
