The kid is kicked out of school and all you can complain about is the fact that he’s not wearing a suit and tie? The whole point of this thread kind of sailed right over your head, didn’t it?
In other words, the school is a Gun-Free Zone. In other words, a terrorist shooting range.
The people who are to blame for this are the parents, the sheep, who send their children daily to a terrorist shooting range.
I see that the photo was taken in Fargo in July. That’s the month that there are leaves on the trees.
That’s why the government runs schools in the first place! To teach citizens to obey their betters without question!
Our yearbook in the ‘50’s was full of photos of sports teams and individuals in “uniforms” which were little more than “tank tops.” I like this photo of the young man. It should have been labeled, All American Boy and maybe Future Marine!
No, it didn’t and I’m not the only one to raise this issue. I’m tired of children and parents going postal because they cannot get their way in any area of life. The photo at the top - which I assume is the one the kid wanted displayed - is inappropriate to a yearbook. And it’s against the school rules. Rather than attempt to get someone fired, why didn’t the father simply homeschool his kid?
Being a conservatives does not always mean refusing to bow to authority. This lack of respect for any form of authority is what has got this country into a huge mess.
This ping list is for the "other" articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
You are ABSOLUTELY correct!!!!! We’re trying to raise WIMPS today. Idiots are brainwashing kids and liking it.
I was sitting in a meeting a few days ago when a woman was going on and on about how dangerous it would be to be in a meeting where people were carrying guns. I glanced over at a guy whom I knew was “packing” and we exchanged winks. She never knew.

Oh so your highness does not think it “appropriate” that a young man is shown in hiss yearbook as he wishes to be remembered....and with the AMERICAN FLAG! It is people like you, those who would IGNORE the 2nd Amendment and the 1st as well, the right to FREE SPEECH, who are the ones who have “Gone Postal.” In MY day, back in the fifties we carried firearms to school and went hunting after classes. Nobody was shocked that we had guns....and we didn’t even have to lock our vehicles in those days. Look at the madness today, caused by the liberals who want us all to be sheep and encouraged on and on by those who prove to be the “leaders” of insanity!
An AR slung across my chest would have vastly improved it.

Well, Little Miss House on the Prairie Noobie, rule #2: don’t carry over grudges from one thread to another. One minute you’re a sophisticate and the next you’re a-hauling pails of milk and preparin’ for The Big Winter on Pa’s homestead. My head spins!
In fact, I’m sick of kids and their jumped-up dads attempting to wreck people’s lives because they don’t agree with authority. Learning to accept authority (even if one vehemently disagrees with it) was once considered a fine American value. This father should have homeschooled his kid. He apparently - like most modern Americans - wants his cake and wants to eat it.
Well, I agree about rules.
The problem is that you could probably be photographed with your favorite undocumented classmate, or your cherished mullah-autographed Koran, or the “clock” you made in your briefcase that Obama gave you the medal of freedom for.
But a gun? Proceed directly to Detention and do not pass Go!
You certainly have a point, Whitey! Checkmate, my dear.
Okay, you totally crack me up! Not everyone can do a zinger well, but you certainly can. I saw this at work & was going to post how completely inappropriate I thought it was. I was sure I would be gored, but it looks like quite a few of us see it that way.
He’s a good looking young man, but the whole photo looks incredibly stupid. A school picture is just not the place for certain things, this being one.
Thank you. I try to always provide a zinger!
He is a good-looking young fellow but the photo is inappropriate for school. What’s so wrong with saying that? It apparently makes us commies, lol.
Where did you read the kid was kicked out of school? The only thing I read was that he had to submit a different photo.
That picture does NOT belong in a high school yearbook.
Period.
.
I agree. A senior yearbook photo should be a simple portrait in nice attire.
Yes. I get sick of kids who are allowed to dress and behave in any way. This is the reason they go into a corporate office for an interview and are shocked and saddened that the interviewer is not impressed with their myriad opinions. Then they take to social media to express their outrage!
The great Scott Fitzgerald said that if you weren’t taught manners at home, the world would teach it to you with a whip. That remark has stayed with me because I have a few scars on my back from my misspent youth.
And when this kid starts going in for interviews, every potential employer is going to google his name and learn he caused a big stink about not being able to pose with a rifle in a senior yearbook photo. He's just closed a lot of doors for himself.
