I have owned several but none were the Romanian model. Surplus ammo was cheap and available back when I owned them. I don’t ever recall seeing commercial HP but it must be out there.
Magazines are plentiful but for some reason are always fairly expensive. At least that was the situation 20 years ago.
Mine were all reliable and accurate but that was with fmj ammo.
I think the ballistics are not as hot as what you describe, maybe some of the hot Czech ammo made for the CZ-52 but it is too hot for the Tokarev.
1224 for $415
We have three old Makarov 9mm autos...never have even loaded them.
I have one, with a tip of the hat to Travis McGee for his recommendation.
The upshot: loud, surprisingly accurate and effective. S&B ammo is clean and generally available. Bulgarian milsurp is dirty, corrosive and hot. Clean every nook and cranny after you shoot that stuff.
Change all the springs. Wolf makes a complete set. Enjoy.
According to
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TT_pistol
Norinco made their version in 9mm and called it the Tokarev Model 213.
I have two of them.
They are fairly accurate. I passed my concealed carry shooting test with one.
One of them had a jamming issue, it would fire then lock up solid. Had to pound on it with a rubber hammer to get it free. I cleaned it completely, then took a magic marker and covered all the internal parts. Fired it until it jammed again, took it apart and polished the areas where it where the marking rubbed off. Works great now.
Mine are very cheaply made, not worth taking to a gun smith.
Very fun to shoot. Reasonably accurate.
Don’t like commie guns, you have to clean the neck hairs off the muzzle.
Don’t let Roger Goodman know! Your gun could go rogue!

Ammo is dirt cheap. At least it was. I bought 550 round sealed cans from sportsmansguide dot com.
Correction... I just looked on sportsmans guide. A can of 1200 rounds is now $420.
Thanks president Obama. I bought mine not more than a year ago and 550 cans were only about $59
I guess I won’t go plnking with it so much now.
