The Craven Cry for ‘Civility’
WSJ ^ | 16 Nov 2015 | WILLIAM MCGURN

The Hesburgh letter recognized “the validity of protest” but made clear that any group that “substituted force for rational persuasion, be it violent or nonviolent,” would be given 15 minutes to meditate. Students who persisted would have their IDs confiscated and be “suspended from this community.”

On cue, Yale President Peter Salovey calls for civility and has repeated Yale’s commitment to free expression. But at a moment when people thirst for a university president who will back up his words, Mr. Salovey, like so many others, apologizes. “We have failed you,” he told protestors.

Indeed they have failed. Just not in the way they imagine.

Civility is not the answer. These whiny Millenial brats need to be spanked for every stupid idea they’ve ever had, then they need to starve on the streets for a little while.

Say what you will about the Cambodian dictator, Pol Pot, but he knew how to silence the dissent of the university crowd that opposed him. He shut the university and forced all the dissenters into the jungle. Being unable to fend for themselves, they were soon dead, an inexpensive way to get rid of those whose only talent is yelling about their discontent.

How to carry off something like that without turning into Pol Pot is another consideration, of course.

Pot was simply following on the Great Leap Forward, and all the good work of Chairman Mao.

I think both, soon after had a Great Famine.

Good point wrt. Pol Pot. It’s not as though dictators are completely devoid of good ideas; for example, Stalin had an excellent policy for dealing with Muslims.

Constitutional amendments clearly detailing where force is authorized (getting rid of Leftists) and clearly detailing what a Leftist is (to prevent abuse of the system by falsely labeling conservatives as Leftists) seems like a pretty good solution. Given how dangerous the Left has become lately, drastic solutions are necessary in dealing with them.

The cliche is that, 'everyone has a piece of the truth'.

Constitutional amendments clearly detailing...

Here is one view of going in that direction.
"All this equality was due to the 211th, 212th, and 213th Amendments to the Constitution..."

A GREAT short read, from a bit surprising source.

I think the existence of the present day American liberal makes the statement ‘everyone has a piece of the truth’ dubious. American liberals manage to be psychopaths against the righteous, and sniveling cowards against the evil. I can’t think of an instance where an American liberal has been right.

As Coulter has said, if it were pure chance, they’d actually come to the right conclusion at least once.

The issue with the amendments in the Vonnegut story is that they were designed to produce unnatural outcomes and have restriction as the primary goal of the amendments. I understand the skepticism against writing new amendments (given that each amendment since and including the 14th have been awful), but the restriction of Leftism is necessary from a survival POV. The primary goal of restricting Leftism, in contrast to the amendments suggested in the Vonnegut story, is to increase the freedom of all non-Leftists.

I agree, which is why I say all liberals are evil, and merely most are stupid from a strictly secular POV (all are stupid in regards to their defiance of God).

Never, never, never going to get the will to do that (and it suggests itself contrary to God’s plan when you need to carry out a massacre of more than you are).

Liberals learned a lot from the Nazis... courting, coercing, luring and pandering to the youth worked for Adolph... so they play the same card.

The stupid young people in the US have never once suspected that they are being played.

I gave up trying to figure out how 100% of them swallow that stuff whole and NEVER challenge any of it. Apart from being certainly STUPID they must have absolutely NO curiosity, because at SOME point you'd research the alternative just out of curiosity
