I remember a conversation between an English person and an American, both talking about `pasties’.
They didn’t really know what the other meant, but agreed they both liked them.

I think Corio goes well back to the Forties, as she starred in two Monogram b-flicks from around 1943, “Sarong Girl” and “The Sultan’s Daughter,” which were designed to capitalize on her already-familiar name and notoriety. She was proceeded by Gypsy Rose Lee and Sally Rand, though.

Somewhat off topic..In 1963, I was going on a campus visit to Johns Hopkins, and drove down from NY with my parents for a weekend tour. Back then Balitmore was a real dump..that was before they’d renovated the harbor area, and Hopkins was in a really lousy area. So just outside the the main entrance to the campus is this big old 1920’s movie theater...which was then a burlesque theater, and the marque says “BUSTY RUSSELL AND HER NIFTY 50’S” and there’s a banner..easily 30 feet tall, hanging down with her picture on it.

also BLAZE STARR on the block. her club was within walking distance of my high school.

I wasn’t quite sure, I remember someone telling me that when he was younger he watched her strip off her gloves, and that the room temperature was torrid by the time she was done.

I was wondering how long until someone mentioned that. Sometimes life is stranger than fiction.

I was living in the Peoples Republic of Berkeley at the time. As you can imagine it was fodder for innumerable jokes.

With 50’s, I’m quite sure that there was more than just the banner hanging down. :=)

Yes, the perfect 36.

San Jose channel 36.

She did editorials for the station as well. It was quite silly.

You probably remember Ed Babar and Watchikinokee and the Old Sourdough if you remember Carol Doda and the perfect 36.
