Great music from a bygone era.
A year ago I got to see the Allman Brothers play Live at the Fillmore from start to finish at Lockn Festival. This was one of their last shows before calling it quits.
Great albums-—”Surrealistic Pillow” and “Are You Experienced” still two of my faves. When you listen to these, you realize it wasn’t just the songs, or just the playing, but that they all captured an era of new expression in music that hasn’t been matched since.
The first 3 minutes of “In Memory Of Elizabeth Reid” is just about the best three minutes in rock & roll.
It could be better but I don’t know how.

An era whose pop culture was far superior to today’s.

I met Gregg Allman twice myself
One at the Oar House on Anna Maria Key outside Bradenton where they played to an intimate crowd on the beach literally 1977
Another time at Club Tanga in Tampa.....big shock right
Tanga was a very raunchy strip joint earl 80s
He had a big head like many celebs
He sure nailed it as the bad guy in Rush
My attorneys and bank are on the grounds where he and Duane went to MILITARY school in Lebanon TN
Statesboro Blues....a rare non Mississippi blues standard is my favorite hat tip Willie
What Duane did to the opening riff
Duane was seriously sullied by both the Arness affair and ratting on Scooter
He is pretty rough around the edges
Betts who I actually knew through his 90s guitar player is much more accessible but quick to fight
