The guy is congenitally determined to go on a high-wire walk with outrageous, potentially offensive, high-risk comments and then double down on them. How anyone could feel safe and confident with this guy as a general election candidate is beyond me. He’s going to go too far at some point and make himself unelectable.
This is essentially greed in action. He wants to be as free to say what he wants as he can while still garnering as much popular support as possible. The more he gets away with it, the further he is going to go next time, until he finally falls off the high wire.
...Why? It happened in his term in office. Trump is not blaming President Bush for the attack...

I wish Trump would not go down this road.
Bush used 9/11 as justification for it.
9/11 can be aid at the feet of the Clintons...not George W. Bush.

George H.W. Bush was an intelligent man, and very accomplished. I disagree with him on many of the positions he’s taken, but you have to admire him for all he has done in his life.
I disagree with Trump on this but I have no problem with him saying it.

In a roundabout way, he is. After all, the only relevance to bringing it up is if you are implying that Bush could have kept us “safe” from the 9/11 attack but did not.
One could bring up Bush’s neglect of the border.

I expect this will benefit Trump in that he is even more clearly standing up to the elite powers that be/have been.
I don’t blame Bush for 9/11, as he didn’t personally run the whole intelligence gathering/analysis apparatus. But it’s a fair response for Trump to make to El Jebbe’s asinine “kept us safe” remark.

He’s not blaming Bush for 9/11, in the sense Trump clearly doesn’t believe in some kind of “Truther” nonsense. But Trump is clearly implying Bush dropped the ball on 9/11, meaning Bush “didn’t keep us safe”.
Like someone else said it was a low blow. It’s not Bush’s fault at all that 9/11 happened. No one saw that coming. There was no way Bush could have “kept us safe” from that.

Truth is, the only thing that anyone might've reasonably been able to do that could've stopped 9/11 would have been to secure the cockpit doors. Given that we have had hijackings in the past, I don't understand why it wasn't done years ago. I had never flown before 9/11, but I was surprised to learn it was so easy to get access to the cockpit. So, while you can blame Bush for not doing that, you can also blame all the previous presidents since Islamic hijackings became a thing in the '70s.

In the end, I don’t need someone who is my buddy in the white house, I want a butt kicker. I really don’t care what Trump says, they are just words. Its the actions that matter.
I meant that had nothing to do with the cause of 9/11. which was a mistaken statement because obviously something in the future couldn’t have caused something in the past :)
