I wrote a calculator to calculate what you would pay in income tax under Donald Trumps plan.

Originally only property owners were allowed to vote. I don’t have a problem with that.

I kind of wish I didn’t print that. The thought just popped into my head. I wouldn’t want to deny retirees the right to vote. Maybe just those on welfare and food stamps that keep voting for the giver of ‘free’ stuff?

I believe its worth it because it would give those who are
likely to vote for the tax and spenders disincentive to continue doing it.

No you don’t pay any taxes on the first $25,000 you would then pay 10% on anything over $25,000.

I think mortgage interest and charitable giving remains as allowed deductions.

It would be very foolish IMHO to trust "growth" to completely cover the shortfall of giving everyone a lower tax rate while we are currently running huge deficits.

I'd actually favor someone saying they would raise taxes unless spending was cut first. I'd be fine with leaving the current tax rates in place if spending was cut. To me, spending cuts are kind of like border enforcement - until that happens, I don't want to hear anything else.

Well pass a bill that says something like as soon as we have a balanced budget we’ll incrementally cut taxes...

something like that... That forces the hand of the lawmakers to balance a budget...to benefit their constituents. (or it will just create a new blame game...)

I agree. Remember, Democrats love to use the Term “skin in the game”, but it’s always someone Else’s skin.

I think Trumps plan is lousy one, it leaves the current system intact with a few changes on rates, how is it going to bring back business when they know whenever a different administration is in office all the taxes can go right back up again maybe in just 4 short years.

No... I like the Cruz plan it is simple fair and eliminates the IRS as we know it, 7000 plus pages of regulation in the shredder and it takes off tens of thousands of employees now sucking on the gov’t tit, there will be plenty of jobs for weaning them off.

If you make $24,999.99 then you pay no taxes, but if you make 25K then you pay $2,500.00

This is not true. Taxes begin at $25,000 for a single person. You never pay taxes on the first $25,000.

Correct. Politicians have cut taxes in recent history. They all have failed in cutting the debt, budget and .gov.

Why is it that you would guess whether the mortgage deduction would “go away” Do you not have the ability to use a search engine so you can find his very specific proposal? (https://www.donaldjtrump.com/positions/tax-reform)

If you had taken 10 seconds out of your life, you would then have found the following sentence - “Charitable giving and mortgage interest deductions will remain unchanged for all taxpayers.”

How many places throughout the internet have you posted this ignorant and false “Pearl” of your wisdom?

Everybody should pay something.

I saw earlier versions where the first bracket was 1%. But this is not set in stone. I am sure there will be some horse trading to get it thru congress.

No, his plan specifically stated keeping the mortgage and charitable giving deductions in place.

Looks like the Trump plan will add about $6,000-$7,000 to our total annual household income. I really don’t care about the 50% of the people who aren’t going to be paying taxes. This is a lot of money in my pocket.

I don’t think your current tax is correct. It seems a little high.

Table 1. 2015 Taxable Income Brackets and Rates

For current tx table I just did 120K AGI married and got ~$18,000. Your calc gives ~$27,500, big difference!

I used the 2015 income tax table.

You may need to adjust your income for those deductions which you typically receive... Enter whatever your taxable income is after those deductions...
