No. Random chance will get you before superstition and my God is bigger than random chance.
Today is my mother’s 80th birthday. My grandson crawled for the first time. A lunar eclipse. The cosmos celebrates.
That’s comforting.
The moon is 2/3-3/4 in shadow in Maryland, and some clouds are just now rolling in, dammit.
A rare evening on Humboldt Bay NO FOG!!! yet...
Awe! Happy birthday to your mom. Today is my son’s birthday; he is seven. Roman is in first grade and has his first loose tooth. His two little sisters adore him, as do I and my husband. I try to keep things in perspective and focus on making moments, like you have obviously done with your kids. God bless!
Oh! Here we go. Just a creepy @$$ little crescent left on the right, and a little red showing on top. I can barely see it through the clouds.
Total eclipse in Kansas. Got very dark, then could see disk, kind of dark yellow, or brownish, not really red. Maybe a hint of red if I used my imagination, but maybe it was just my old eyes.
Must be caused by global warming? /s
The size of the Earth. The size of the Moon. The size of the Sun. The placement of the Earth relative to the Sun and the placement of the Moon relative to the Earth makes possible perfect eclipses when the Earth, Moon and Sun are opposite each other.
Having the Moon with it's size and distance from the Earth made possible tidal actions that made possible interactions between land and ocean that enhanced the probability of life forming and being sustained.
Here the moon is now a dark orange, pretty dramatic stuff.
One can understand and imagine how in previous Centuries, people would have been totally freaked out about something like this.
The moon is now a VERY dark orange.
Rather amazing getting this as it’s happening from both sides of the pond.
Yes it is amazing! Right now, here in close to the middle of the US, the opposite side is brightening. Looks like a bright shiny bottom peeking out, as if the moon is mooning us! :P
Lol
Enjoyed it. Very pretty.
