It is time to challenge Tesla in the same way. Science would show the is no such thing as a "clean" car.

There is no such thing as a non-polluting car, but the exhaust thus gave off was probably 1/50th of what it would have given off in the 70’s, with even less in the future.

So I’ve missed my opportunity to buy a new VW Diesel that actually has good performance and mileage? Dang it!

BTW, I live in a state (KY) with no emissions testing. :-)

It certainly isn’t clean when they have to replace the battery.

Congratulations, you’ve destroyed a company, probably made thousands lose their jobs, brought your 15 minutes of fame.

VW did wrong but don’t deserve to be destroyed for bringing the public good, economical cars.

This is a vendetta against a non-union shop in Tennessee and diesels.

Yes, “electric” cars should only be able to exalt their cleanliness if they are fueled with only “green” electricity. If the electricity used was generated using hydrocarbons, then their clean label should be stripped.

The other Truth, something is not right here?
Someone really wanted to kill the Turbo diesel in the USA for good.?

VW Polo TDI BlueMotion three-cylinder turbo diesel (TDI) with 73.5 mpg.

.......Despite ongoing efforts to wean itself off the teat of foreign oil, the U.S. car market is still almost twice as polluting as Europe and Japan......

Concerns over fuel economy and carbon-dioxide emissions have left many wondering why more cars with diesel engines aren't available in America.
After all, diesel-engined cars are 20 to 40 percent more efficient, and they're cleaner than ever.
Diesels in Europe, accounting for roughly 50 percent of the car market .....Popular Mechanics.

......The common-rail TDI engine has won "Green Car of the Year" award in the years 2009....

I would look closely at the EPA’s standards for diesels before using the word scandal.

There probably aren’t two honest persons on that lying agency, and the science IQ of the place wouldn’t merit a high school degree.

The EPA respect is right down there with Dorkbama the Muslim, congress, and your loca. Septic tank.

Principal funding for the ICCT comes from the ClimateWorks Foundation, with additional generous support from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the Energy Foundation, and the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.

I have it on authority I trust that the emissions standards for diesel cars are ridiculous and nearly impossible without retooling everything and jacking up the prices. VW is not in business for selling high-priced cars.

They are likely not the only company doing this... just the one who got caught. It’s likely political.

Conspiracy theory 1: The government in collusion with the UAW took down a major competitor.

Conspiracy theory 2: The Obama Administration is continuing on its assault on the West in striking at the heart of the German economy... the linchpin of the European Union.

“But, but it’s plugged into a wall and doesn’t use gas so how can it pollute? Answer that smarty pants!”

I actually had a lib say that to me when I questioned them about electric cars and pollution.

I'm not convinced this man has done any valuable service for mankind or the environment.

One cannot sxmell or see anything from the tail pipe of the new VW Diesels.

When will they make CO and CO2 illegal?

And these cars' emissions were so dirty over millions of miles that nobody even noticed. Seems like the dirty mode is a new real world emissions standard to me.

The EPA has been giving higher gas mileage for all vehicles forever then actual mileage. Can you fine them? Will the EPA head resign?
