U.S. tennis star Serena Williams lost the semifinal round at the U.S. Open Friday afternoon. She was upset by Roberta Vinci of Italy.
Williams was chasing a calendar Grand Slam, which hasn't been done since 1988, when Steffi Graf did it.

You obviously did not see her when she brutally attacked a lineswoman.
No, I didn’t. I’ve heard about her being really out of it once, like maybe she was on drugs or something, but I don’t know much about her, honestly. I haven’t watched much tennis for years.
**** “She (?) must have had a better bunch of steroids ... technology is everything now a days in sports!” ****
Technology / Surgery / Chemistry can only change so much ... a DNA test cannot be beaten but can be bought. Ask Moochelle
LOL
Somebody posted a pic a few days ago with her looking like a man. If she’s on HGH at some point, it wouldn’t surprise me.
Reminds me of a line from “Top Secret!” from many years ago.
Racism!
Just what are you getting at? (/sarc)
Serena Williams should be subjected to the same unrelenting investigation into PHD's as Lance Armstrong was.
Unfortunately it will never happen since she is in a "protected" class.....
She's extremely strong and fast....built more like a male athlete. That's why she's at the top. Just imagine a male pro on the women's tour.
Andre Agassi was the first man to collect all four since, hmm, Rod Laver? As Martina Navratalova pointed out, there’s more depth to the men’s game because there are so many more men playing; I”d add that the longest women’s match is only as long as the shortest men’s match.
So what’s the penalty for not providing a urine sample?
Disqualification from that one tournament?
“Rocket” Rod Laver was the only man in history to win all four Majors (”Grand Slam”) in the same calendar year twice (1962 and 1969). Don Budge did it once in 1938. No one else has done it even once in the same year. Agassi never won three Grand Slam tournaments in the same year.
Agassi got a career grand slam — the only men’s player to do so since Rod Laver. The most Agassi won in one year was three.
I have no idea what the penalty may be for dodging a urine test. But having just seen the penalty waived for Tom Brady in DeflateGate, I am reminded how flexible the rules can be if the athlete is famous enough or lucrative enough.
American pro. sports still operates heavily on emotion and sentiment. It can be very scientific, but is not held to that standard all the time. I’m hearing that without Serena in the running, the stolen tickets have lost more than half their value. Poor little scalpers!
Somewhere nearby, Dr. Evil stands in his grey Mao suit, making finger quotations around the word “Man”.
The goofballs at ESPN are going into mourning
Not before they heavily edited down the match for its reairing. I programmed the DVR to record the event. Oddly enough they had cut out certain parts of the match apparently to fit the broadcast. But the recording ended just prior to the final point. They may have witnessed the event, but they did their best to prevent others from seeing it in all its glory.
So I went to Youtube and saw the rest.
FUespn.
Roger Federer has a career Grand Slam, as well, when he won the French Open in 2009, the only Grand Slam event that alluded him up until that time. He also has won 3 out of 4 calendar GS’s three times in his career.
Looks like wikipedia has a love affair with Federer.
