Every morning, I fire up my home computer (downloaded Windows 10 last week) and when I go to my Google Chrome icon, it takes me exactly 10 minutes for the Google main page to pop up on my screen. I like Google Chrome because I have GooglePlus and GMail, but it seems that Windows 10 is not supporting it because they want users to jump to Microsoft Edge (their browser) instead.
What can I do to correct this? Should I uninstall and then install Google Chrome again? This delay is very frustrating.
10 comes from the X in Linux.
When I updated to Windows 10 it changed my network connection from public to private. The new security in place causes web browsing to grind to a halt when on a public network connection and Chrome seems to handle it worse than other browsers while Firefox handles it best but is still slow. To fix this, go to your network connection and turn on file/printer sharing which will speed everything up.
I was faulting Chrome more than faulting Windows 10.
I am moving to all Linux, but then I’m a geek, it isn’t for everyone.
Quick read yesterday indicated that Chrome is going to drop support for Java. Haven’t researched enough to know when this will occur (version number) but the ramifications will be quite steep. If you’re loading a new version of Chrome, you may want to consider this development.
Is this the WIFI SENSE feature? I turned that off last week, and the Google Chrome has been slow loading up since then, now that I think of it.
Thanks to all of you for your help!
I’ve been using Windows 10 since the first technical preview came out. I like the update a lot. I use multiple browsers. The Chrome Browser is Version 45.0.2454.85 m. It opens without issue. I would try uninstalling it and install a new copy by going to https://www.google.com/chrome. Good luck!
Not the wifi sense, it’s a standard setting for a network connection that applies to wired connections as well.
Why use them?
I have g-mail as well, but Chrome is full of potential exploits.. Use edge, and make your g-mail account a favorite link or pin it to the taskbar. I dumped chrome a couple years ago..I still use firefox for some stuff..
Did you get classified Email from Carlos Danger or Sidney Blumenthal on the Gmail account?
Gotta be cause I know Microshaft would never F-up bluetooth compatibility on purpose!!
That's why they call it Windows 10.

Thackney’s suggestion worked for me:
Download Chrome for Windows 10
http://www.chromestory.com/google-chrome-windows-10-download/
I, also, use Norton Safe Search to avoid Win 10’s monster home page.
This has worked well for me. I did this on advice of our family IT guy.
Interesting is how Win 10 resurrected my old HP Pavilion/win 7 computer. It is very fast now, and it only takes a little over 30 seconds to load Comcast or my Google or Chrome home page. My Chrome Browser works very well with my Win 10 resurrected HP Pavilion.
However, my Acer Chromebook 15, is on as fast as I lift up the cover on my Acer Chromebook 15.
Thanks for that info. I have another project now....
It's busy sending all your personal data to Peggy...........
My new Ubuntu load in celebration of WinX release takes 3 sec. to shut down. 4 sec to get going after POST and BIOS boots are done.
EVER!!!!
Words to live by.
