Is Trumps movement fascist rather than conservative?
self | dschapin

I am honestly getting a little scared of what I see happening in politics at the moment. Trump seems to be creating a personality cult where his supporters don’t seem to care what they are supporting provided he attacks the people they don’t like. I am starting to feel a little bit like a German citizen in the early 1930’s watching normally rational conservatives start to cultishly follow a strong leader who they thought would fight back and stop the communists.

Seriously if I had to pick a political philosophy for the Trump movement I would say that it is fascism for the following reasons.

1. Trump's support of and past involvement in crony capitalism (such as his support for using the condemnation power of the state to take property for private parties with good government connections).

2. Trump's followers extreme desire for a strong leader and almost mystical belief that he can fix things without caring what his beliefs or idealogy is.

3. Trump's support for a type of nationalism that is starting to push into the overtly rascist and nativist realm.

4. The delight that Trump seems to take in personally demeaning and attempting to destroy anyone who opposes him. And the way that his followers cheer him on in so including supporting him using sexist slurs against Megan Kelly for doing her job as a journalist.

5. Finally, the fact that Trump and his supporter seem to have no concern for the constitution or the separation of powers.

So you have a long history of voting for losers, who never had a chance, nor would have made a good president.

“leftists love to accuse conservatives of being fascist and nativist. Seen it a thousand times.”

They are the only ones who use these words. The one I caught yesterday, used “ reactionary” which is only used by leftists to describe any conservative.

You say that to a Freeper whose thesis is that Trump’s supporters are racist Nazis?

A sense of irony would elevate the love/hate Trump debates around here LOL!

You don’t understand

The US Government now subsidizes the decapitation of babies
and the shipment of baby heads from Planned Parenthood

Baby heads are being sold in America
and
you are concerned about Trump
This is your America
Not Trump’s

Lots of liberals call themselves conservative, whether transparently liberal or crypto-liberal. Such a thing is not new. If Jeb Bush calls himself a “practicing conservative”, does that make him conservative? or Mitt Romney calling himself a “severe conservative”?

It’s just that a lot of people think that it is refreshing to see someone calling themselves a republican, actually fight back, instead of just roll over and play dead every time some PC BS is thrown at him.

I don’t want an open border or amnesty. Its just level of anger and intensity that I see Trump supporters put into the issue of immigration and foreigners. I actually ended up debating a freeper the other day who wanted Christian refugees from ISIS thrown out of this country because their were too many foriegners here. He didn’t care when I told him that that would be sending them to their deaths and their wives and children potentially to a life as sex slaves.

So the truth is you had an argument with a Freeper and you've decided Donald Trump is a Nazi?

What made you think this Freeper was Donald Trump?

He’s no kind of conservative i recognize. I’m aware of Godwin’s Law so I’m a bit reluctant to draw the obvious comparison.

The big difference between Trump and Obama. Off the cuff. I am sure i could come up with dozens, possibly hundreds, of differences. I restricted myself to 5.

1. Trump has a past. You might not agree with some of the things he has done. But it is there for all to see.

2. Trump changed his political views. Obama has mostly held the same views all of his life. He has obvious chip on his shoulder about race and redistribution. He has hang up with prosperity, capitalism, American exceptionalism...on and on.

3. Trump has not sealed any of his records.

4. Trump has TANGIBLE accomplishments. Obama, and the media mustly dismissed the fact, had no substantial records of accomplishments. I mean, other than being a Professional Shit Disturber. Obama worked barely any experience in the private sector. Obama was a member of a radical/racialist American hating church.

5. The media covers Trump 24/7. Not for the same reason they cover Obama 24/7. Trump they want to Destroy. They question every single motive. Obama they worship. In spite of his lack of a past. In spite of his lack of accomplishment or his lack of experience. They ignored all his association with communist and radicals. They ignored his church. They ignored his books. They said he was the smartest man in America?

>>What does “nativist” mean?

It’s one of those code words that only a Progressive would ever use. It means “a person who thinks his country is better than others”. In other words, a nationalist, a patriot, a true American without hyphens.

There is nothing more disgusting than idiots whining about some other candidate while supporting a candidate who openly panders to racial supremacist groups.

Don’t forget that the screaming democrats will always be on his heels. If he does try to go fascist, the democrat fascist party will attack him if not to their liking. The conservatives will attack from their side. With the internet keeping the public aware of the truth, I think he would be kept under control.

Trump has mortally wounded the pro-amnesty SourKrauts at Fox News, Rubio and Jeb Bush.

I think some of the MSM recent tolerance of Cruz is to hurt Trump not to help Cruz.

Trump right now is being used to bash Jeb,Rubio and other RINOs and that is great.

If you want to talk about Fascism then look no further than the Democrats, Obama, Hillary, Bernie, etc.

I don't see Trump as Fascist, I see him as someone who has tapped into the absolute frustration of people who are tired of being lied to and seem to have no recourse.

How would you term George Bush, the Fascist label could equally apply to him with the policies pushed after 9-11 to turn this country into a Police State with the Patriot Act and Homeland Security. We let Bush and others play on our fear of Terrorism to move in a direction of less freedom and more control.

Trump is a breath of fresh air and I am sure these Hit pieces will keep coming, primarily from those who distort history and have their own agenda.

I ,in fact, find Trump more reminiscent of Teddy Roosevelt than anything else.

Seriously if I had to pick a political philosophy for the Trump movement I would say that it is fascism for the following reasons.

Methinks you need to look up the word "Fascism"...

As an economic system, fascism is socialism with a capitalist veneer. The word derives from fasces, the Roman symbol of collectivism and power: a tied bundle of rods with a protruding ax. In its day (the 1920s and 1930s), fascism was seen as the happy medium between boom-and-bust-prone liberal capitalism, with its alleged class conflict, wasteful competition, and profit-oriented egoism, and revolutionary Marxism, with its violent and socially divisive persecution of the bourgeoisie. Fascism substituted the particularity of nationalism and racialism—“blood and soil”—for the internationalism of both classical liberalism and Marxism.

Trumpism was CAUSED by the GOPe / RINO unwillingness to adhere to the conservatism that elected them.

It is worth noting that I read on the BBC this past weekend that illegal immigration has finally hit 50% percentage of people in the UK as a major issue. The government got right on it because things that worry half the citizenry are considered a problem.

Contrast that with a steady 2/3 of Americans who have been concerned about illegal immigration for some time now with nothing but excuses from Washington.

What kind of government is it that ignores the will of the people on numerous issues? What kind of government encourages groupthink to poison civic interactions with paralyzing fear of being hounded, threatened, locked up, black-listed, or worse, for saying the “wrong” thing, which arbitrarily changes from day to day? See the problem is, that IS where we are.

Conservatives who now back Trump don’t really trust him, but they hope he will beat the $hit out of the GOPe.
