The log building looks fairly new (bright chinking and tar paper on unfinished roof).
Stopped to pour a brew...?
These are great, I’m really enjoying them. The rodeo photo is pretty cool too.
Look at the cowgirls in their dungarees at a time when jeans weren’t a part of the national dress code for women.

The photo was taken from approximately where the red star is in this current sat pic looking NNE. The railroad in the photo came in from the north where Railroad street is.

Thank you for providing the link to the NYS historic newspapers. I was unaware that it existed. My initial search for the term “Islam” turned up some surprising articles. This provides an interesting study which to determine where/when the West began to romanticize that culture, and eliminate the violent history associated with it.

So the church where your great-grandad took the picture is gone now?

Yeah. My great grandparents and grandfather are buried right where the church was.

I have a photo of my home town taken in 1915 that shows a saloon run by my grandfather and his brother

The west began to romanticize that culture centuries ago. The opera, Abduction from the Seraglio was first performed in 1782.

For the world news the old editions of the New York Times might be a better place to look. The rural newspapers had some world news but it was filled with very local news about barns burning, farming accidents and railroad openings.

Interesting the buffalo bill show advertisement poster. After 30 years, 1913 was the last year of the show due to bankruptcy.

There’s a lot to be said for living in the same area where your folks and the ones before them grew up. I prefer it.
