From Trump To McDaniel: Is Ted Cruz Running A Brilliant Stealth Campaign?
Daily Caller ^ | 8/17/2015 | Matt K Lewis

Sen. Ted Cruz was overshadowed during much of the first GOP debate, but he finished strong. And this might turn out to be a microcosm of his larger campaign plan.

True, Donald Trump is sucking up everyone’s oxygen. And, yes, logic would dictate that — because he occupies the same populist space as Cruz — Trump would take a disproportionate number of votes from the Texas conservative. But, instead, Cruz is polling well — in third place, behind Trump and Ben Carson, according to a new Fox News poll.

And if Trump gets out of the race (for now, that’s a big if ), it’s possible that Cruz could inherit at least some of Trump’s supporters.

While I think Cruz is serious, I also think (as his two visits with Trump show) he is realistic and is planning a fall-back position as a part of Trump’s administration.

Yes.

Trump will eventually implode.

Cruz will pick up the pieces.

Has Trump filed all of the paperwork and documents required to run for POTUS?

Nothing stealthy about Cruz’s campaign. It is called winning.

Brian Kilmeade mentioned the surprising performance of Cruz despite the lack of coverage this morning.

Maybe he is and maybe he isn’t. One thing working against Trump and for Cruz, it’s way too early to be peaking. OTOH, Trump doesn’t stop at breaking just a few rules.

THE TRUMP DOCTRINE

A nation without borders is not a nation

A nation without laws is not a nation

A nation that does not take care of its citizens is not a nation

------------

Are these the words of a campaign that will implode? Really?

Yes he did. Trump is helping Cruz out immensely. Cruz is starting to become the compromise candidate, whereas before Trump, the media tried to paint him as a fringe candidate. They are starting to fall in line.

Hopefully by the next debate enough of the losers will have dropped out so the remaining candidates will get more time to debate than just give sound bites.

Cruz will dominate any real debate.

Trumps unfavorables are so high he can’t get elected. If enough people stay in the race long enough, he could win primaries at 25%, but that might be his ceiling.

=======================•=================================
Ain’t going to happen....if he goes down, he goes down swinging. He’s no playing setup for other candidates they will have to earn that on their own. He is the ONLY candidate who has put skin in the game on immigration....not amnesty, not path to citizenship, not increasing H1B visas....if he goes down, WHO, of the remaining candidates will run on that position or something stronger?

Good question. The last that I heard he had not.

Ted Cruz has been very strong on immigration and numerous other significant conservative issues - much stronger than Trump. Plus Cruz is just about the only significant Republican candidate not to dump on Trump. Plus they have recently had a closed-door meeting.

I prefer Cruz - I think he is much more qualified, and considerably less polarizing, than Trump.

We shall see.

I remember at about this time in 2012, Rick Perry was riding very high in the polls.

Then it was Herman Cain.

Then it was Newt Gingrich.

Polls like stocks fluctuate.

One day you’re hot, the next day you’re not.

A lot can happen between now and February when the first primaries and caucuses are held.

Take IA for example. When they poll people in that state, are the polling everyone, or are they polling likely caucus goers? There is a HUGE difference.

I would agree that DT is leading in all of the polls right now.

However, these polls are very preliminary and will most certainly fluctuate has the race progresses.

If history is any guide.

“Hopefully by the next debate enough of the losers will have dropped out”

Thats exactly why i wouldn’t count on it. Christie didn’t debate getting out. He was negotiating how much more cash he wants from the GOPe to stay in.
Most of them are there to give votes to whichever RINO ends up on top. Bush, Kasich or Rubio?
