Can we install a firewall between your router and computer to block the connections? Only if you don't really want to use the Internet. . . You can also turn off the computer completely.

I’ve dealt with that guy on several occasions. He’s a Level Two tech and loves to do endless-loop remote access to no avail while trying to convince that he’s “...here to help”.

An earlier article from ARS Technica that is worth a read and bookmarking for future reference. Again posting even parts of it on FR is prohibited.
http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2015/08/windows-10-doesnt-offer-much-privacy-by-default-heres-how-to-fix-it/ Thanks, CedarDave. . . looks good. I've brought it to the attention of the list keeper:
dayglo, did you know about this? It might use a thread of its own?

Ive dealt with that guy on several occasions. Hes a Level Two tech and loves to do endless-loop remote access to no avail while trying to convince that hes ...here to help. He's very good at reading endless scripts. . . and if he gets lost, he starts over. . .

That’s why I only trust Google. Their motto is “Don’t be Evil”, therefore I can totally trust them

No wonder its free. You pay for it with your privacy. Sure looks that way.
However, people will eventually find ways to block this unwanted communication. I hope.

Turn off the firewall rules allowing outbound either in the OS firewall or on your network. I make it a habit for completely clearing out the Windows firewall and starting from scratch. It’s a pain in the tail up front, but it’s safer in the long run.

No, you would apply rules in your router console, blocking Microsoft’s IP addresses.

Turn off the firewall rules allowing outbound either in the OS firewall or on your network. That would certainly do the trick. Unfortunately, most users are barely aware they have a firewall, much less how to work it like that...
