Cape Town - As if the death of Cecil the Lion wasn't bad enough, at least 12 of his cubs are now in danger of being killed by his rivals.
NBC News reports that conservation experts who had been tracking Cecil for seven years said that the patriarch's death would no doubt result in a catastrophic cascade of effects, as a new leader of another pride will move in to take over his pride.
Johnny Rodrigues from the Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force told The Guardian that Jericho, the next lion in the hierarchy, will most likely kill all of Cecil's cubs in an effort to assert his bloodline.
Since Cecil was killed on 1 July already, Rodrigues says that the chances are good that this terrible fate has already befallen the cubs, but that there was nothing any conservation organisation could do, as letting nature run its course was the most humane option.

No, Jericho is protecting the cubs and the lionesses. I don’t know how long he can do that by himself, Cecil was quite prolific!

The lionesses won’t ovulate until the cubs are dead. The new cub-daddy want progeny of his own.

Let’s see, if Cecil is the good, innocent Lion, doesn’t it follow that the other Lions who are killing his cubs and taking his Lionesses are BAD?
Wouldn’t it be like ISIS taking over the innocent females of Syria or Iraq and killing the male in their family?
Therefore, shouldn’t we be protecting Cecil’s pride by killing the other evil Lions?
