I thank you in advance for sending up a prayer for my cousin. On his vacation with his wife, he fell in the night in his hotel room (not from his bed, not in the bathroom) and was unconscious when his wife, awakening from sleep, heard the thud of his fall. He was rushed to the hospital where they found way too much blood in the brain to operate. They have him now in a medical coma and it has been several days.
He now has an infection in his lungs and blood that they are treating with antibiotics. He is in his 50s and was in great shape. The whole family is just beside ourselves.
Also if anyone has experience with these things please feel free to share on the thread as well. I have asked if the docs think it was an aneurysm because I don't understand how a fall in a carpeted hotel room could cause that much of a bleed. In a middle aged fit man who had not been drinking or anything - who falls that hard?

If brain aneurysm blood will irritate the brain and vasospasms occur if its induced coma probably better because less movement stress they may need to drain the subaracnoid area .vasospasms must calm down before surgery took about 2weeks for my daughter.She had a headache and passed out left side affected fusiform aneu.middle cerebral artery is doing great 15 yrs a lot. Of medical changes since then. Hope for the best prayers out to your family.

My dad had a fall and slower brain bleed which was not discovered until several weeks later when the accumulated pooled blood threatened his life in a similar way! Very dangerous, but he made a complete recovery.
The aneurysm ruptured of its own accord, while he was walking about, thus causing him to fall, not the other way around.

That is what I thought too but I guess the doctors haven’t said. Why would he fall so severely in a probably carpeted hotel room?

Oh wow, I’m sorry to hear that about your husband. The only “prognosis” that the doctors give my cousin’s wife so far is when he wakes up it could be many months of therapy to recover. It’s hard to fathom how quickly things can change.
I want to thank you all for your prayers. Mine and my kids’ weren’t enough this time and I knew I could count on you FReepers. I have gratitude for good people who just lend a moment to ask Our Father to bless this good man with recovery. I bet for those who responded to say they prayed there may be a bunch of others who sent a quick one heavenward too. Love you all.
I know sometimes I see a prayer thread and might not have the time to type but still pray. We pray for every passing ambulance just in case someone is in there who needs another one.
