Would Libs Be So Upset About Cecil the Lion If . . .
The Telegraph ^ | July 31, 2015 | Vanity

. . . They knew he was named after Cecil Rhodes, a man libs despise as an apparent racist and imperialist?

'Cecil was first identified in 2008 or 2009, spotted with his brother. The pair were seen at a "pan" or watering hole called Magisihole Pan, on the southern boundary of Hwange park.

Magisihole Pan translates as "White Man's watering hole" and so the siblings were named after famous white men: Cecil, after Cecil Rhodes, and Leander – named after Leander Starr Jameson, a pioneer in southern Africa and colleague of Rhodes.'

I wonder if they'd see this venerable lion's death as the passing--long overdue, by the way--of what must be the last thing to bear the old boy's name in southern Africa.

When this story broke the other day, I commented that I thought nearly everything about it was "scummy." I still believe that. But this story is getting press far beyond the magnitude it deserves.

We on Free Republic are not deceived. We this for what it is: a deliberate media orchestrated distraction from the infinitely more serious story about Planned Parenthood selling dismembered human beings to laboratories. We all know libs get worked up about the strangest things but they have such terribly selective outrage.

I understand and agree with your anger about the amount of attention this lion is getting. But I think the answer to your question is NO, they don’t care who the lion was named after. Why, because its an animal. Why would anyone really care? I am a 30 year old white man named Jesse. Had my parents named me after Jesse Jackson (which they didn’t) would that make any difference to the person I am today? No. How could anyone assume that liberals could be logical enough to make the comparison?

The sanctimonious news readers in the media have been especially irritating as they have pushed this story.

And social media and Hollywood idiots have been weighing in.

People who five days ago had never heard of Cecil the lion, and some of whom have no idea where Zimbabwe is, are now all of a sudden shocked and outraged about a single hunter who killed one single lion on a hunting trip.

People who had no knowledge of or cares about Zimbabwean hunting regulations are now all over that subject as to wondering how in the world someone can go hunting in darkest Africa.

This story has been a very low point for the media, in my opinion. They whip up a frenzy, tell us we are supposed to be outraged about hunting. All over the killing of one lion.

This is selective outrage.

And now I heard some liberal congresswoman calling for our own federal government to investigate the death of Cecil the lion.

We can’t launch serious in depth investigations into Benghazi or our government involvement in the overthrow of Qadaffi(sp?) in Libya. But we can launch an investigation into one man’s hunting trip in Zimbabwe. Really????

We can’t investigate irregularities with Hillary’s emails and possible serious legal violations there. We can’t investigate the activities of the Clinton foundation and how that may tie into Hillary’s actions as Sec. of State. But we can investigate the death of a lion on a hunting trip....

really??? Is this bizarro world????

I think what the writer was getting at, is that Zimbabwe used to be called Rhodesia, in honor of Cecil Rhodes.

But when white government rule came to an end, and the black majority took over, they renamed the country Zimbabwe.

So it makes one wonder how anyone in that country could allow the name Cecil to be given to this allegedly famous animal. Since they had taken action to rename the country so as not to honor the colonial settler Cecil Rhodes.

The liberals are quite proud of the Rhodes scholarship which Cecil Rhodes founded because of his disdain of Africans. Bill Clinton was a Rhodes scholar.

Would The NaziProgs love Cecil if he shot and killed an unarmed black man?

When Cecil or Bob the gazelle get older and slower than their peers, they get dragged down by the stronger and suffer an immobilizing series of wounds of crushing bites. But here comes the fun part. The best meals are had fresh, so while Bob or Cecil are still alive, their predator begins to eat them from the a$$ backwards, disembowling them and eating all the tasty parts like liver and splean first. All this while Bob or Cecil is still alive.

Nah...........If I am Cecil, I'd rather have some $hit-head dentist take me out in one clean shot. Just sayin........

Wasn’t a clean shot. He was shot with a bow and arrow and then tracked for 40 hours before being give the coup de grace with a rifle.

If you are going to kill an animal, you ought to at least us a proper caliber of bullet that expands and kills it as quickly as possible, and preferably instantaneously.

Giving a name to a lion does not make it a human. Calling little developing humans a mass of tissue doesn’t make them non-human.

I feel sad for people who can’t take umbrage at more than one thing at a time. It must be like living in a child’s soccer game. You know, someone kicks the ball into one corner and everyone runs over there. The ball gets kicked somewhere else and everyone runs over to the new place. It’s exhausting just to describe the frenetic footwork of it all.

But Libs aren’t outraged by abortion, that’s the point. And the media is portraying this guy as the most evil person since Hitler.

That’s true but I have read reports from Zimbabwe where they’re shocked at the all the attention the lion is getting in the U.S.. They would prefer people pay more attention to their horrible economy and lack of basic needs like electricity and food.
