3) It is monkeywrenching the entire liberal media mechanism for selecting our nominee by knocking out candidates they don’t like (witness their cranial explosions when Trump shoves it in their faces and his polling goes up)

4) It is drawing a whole lot of Reagan Democrat-type voters back into the party, who really have had no reason to vote Republican in recent years.

5) The fear that Trump will take his fortune and run third-party will keep the party elites from engaging in the usual shenanegans.

2) He’s sucking up all the oxygen: It’s true that Donald Trump is dominating the coverage of the 2016 presidential election, but that’s a double-edged sword. Yes, it does mean that candidates like Bobby Jindal and Mike Huckabee are going to have trouble getting enough coverage to gain steam.

Something tells me Huck will find a way to get around that problem ...

One of the many reasons Newt Gingrich became such a favorite, was his brashness, speaking truth to power such as, "it's a crime that American schools are graduating students who are unable to read their own certificates," etc.

Then Clinton went on to get impeached and the Clintons' with thousands of FBI files in the White House, went after the Newtster and emasculated him where he became their own house pet appearing in photos with Hillary touting Global Warming!

Unlike what Chris Steirwalt claimed, Trump fans don't want to "burn down the house," they do want people who don't look them in the face, lie to them and claim they never intended to vote against Obamacare, build a fence at the southern border, refuse to vote to bust the budget, make trade deals that sell out the U.S. once again, etc, etc, etc.

We also don't like Congress giving away our country, allowing this Administration to make deals with countries that promise to wipe Israel off the map and chant "Death to America," while looking the other way leaving 4 Americans behind, claiming to do otherwise would give Iran more "leverage over us!"

We also don't want to be told that the 11 to 30 million illegal aliens residing in plain sight, belong here getting our jobs, our privileges while we give them free healthcare, education, food stamps, housing benefits, allow them to commit other crimes, their children bringing diseases that were once considered cured and adults bringing antibiotic resistant TB, all the while getting the above such as murder, assault, rape, drunken driving, etc. and all the while doing so with our stolen IDs because the Chambers of Commerce tell our politicians that not to do so, is "racist and xenophobic!"

Nope, it's not because we like hearing or looking at some braggart telling us how "rich, really, really rich" he is, nor is it because we like his other braggart and downright rudely he behaves, it's because he points out the obvious, illegal invasion from Mexico needs not only to be stopped, it needs to be reversed; treaties that tell U.S. citizens that the only green onions and cilantro sold in the U.S. will come from Mexico and make us sick enough to cause the death of some; give a green light to China to send us food that kills our pets, puts poisonous things in our food our own companies would be shut down for doing!

Because of that, the GOP candidates have been forced to do more to get their names out there.

Ted Cruz called out Mitch McConnell for lying to Republicans on the Senate floor.

I don't see this as Cruz being forced to "up his game". I see it as Cruz taking the opportunity to knock McConnell while he cannot get enough oxygen to control the narrative. Trump is effectively providing cover fire while Cruz and Lee do the lifting in the Senate.
