Lobsterman Stephen Jordan got quite the surprise in his morning shellfish shipment this past Tuesday morning. A 23-pound surprise, to be exact.
One of our fishermen sent it down and said, Oh, you gotta look, I have a surprise in one of the crates, Jordan, owner of Jordan Lobster Farms in Long Island, New York, told ABC News. We opened it up and were like, Holy Jesus! We havent seen one for ten to fifteen years that big.
The 23-pounder was caught in the Bay of Fundy in Canada and at that weight, Jordan estimates it to be 95 years old.
Everyone here is calling him Claws instead of Jaws. One claw must weigh 14 pounds, he said.

Yummy.
Holy moly but I don’t think the pic does it justice due to camera perspective. Looks like a “wee” 10 pounder in the photo
Jordan is a nice guy.
Used to live a 1/2 mile from there until Hurricane Sandy evicted me.
Invite all your friends over!
Gonna need more melted butter.
OK then I’ll need a gallon of clarified butter..
and a very big bib..
I’ll bring my own hedge clippers...
:)
When I was a kid - - almost 60 years ago - my mom bought a 20+ pounder at Point Judith, R. I. Always a woman looking for a discount, she bought it because folks thought the big ones might be tough so it was cheaper. For our family with 5 kids, it was great. For once we actually had lobster leftovers. It wasn’t tough at all!
Amazing! How did we miss him for so many years?
How they know it is 95 years old? Birth certificate? Maybe is swam from Fukishima.
Some days you eat the lobster, some days the lobster ...
Yikes. Makes a person not want to go in the water. What else is lurking in there?
Birth certificates are easy to fake. Look at Obama's.
How about giant clams that can weigh about 440 lbs and can be more than four feet across.
LOL True.
Nah, Homarus Americanus is found Eastern Canada down to maybe New Jersey.
The Japanese have a spiny lobster.
I think Claws closest looking relative would be the European lobster, a bit smaller age for age, but at least clawed.
I was thinking if it were from Fukishima, it would have really been a crawl dad.
Since I respect my Elders, they should give the Lobster to a local Aquarium and let it die of Old Age.
That Lobster is as old as my Father.
