This is a dumb question but I always try to picture how other Freepers are at the moment they are posting.
So just out of curiosity, how and where are you commenting on FreeRepublic.com?
Are you you in a dark basement by yourself? In a shopping mall, waiting for your wife? Half watching some program on TV while you Freep?
Nothing special for me. I'm sitting outside in a perfect Minnesota summer evening with a beer in hand and my two dogs next to me.
Not far from Offutt Air Base, my 5lb silkie is sleeping at my feet while my husband watches The Last Ship. He’d give anything to still be in the Navy.
Is there enough water to float a houseboat? Or are you grounded 300 yards from water’s edge?
We’re already making plans for a return visit. Full Bucket List agenda!!

I do use FR in some of my classes - or rather, material gathered from it. But I’m always careful because I don’t want to be one of those teachers who tries to get their students to follow a particular political line. There’s far too many teachers on the left doing that. I won’t be part of that.
It’s my job to teach kids how to think - not what to think. That doesn’t mean steering clear of politics, far from it, but it does mean being careful.
With my oldest students (17 year olds typically) I’m a lot more open about what I think about issues, but that’s only because by that stage, I have done my best to make sure they will argue with me if they disagree and that they are equipped to do so. But I don’t have any of those in detention today - mostly 14 and 15 year olds and a couple of 16 year olds.

I’m midway through Game of Thrones season two, sitting in the back of my home with all the windows open watching/listening as SoCal gets drenched by a rare rain storm.

LOL! I’m feeling sorry for myself today. Yesterday a bug flew into my eye while I was riding on my motorcycle. Still stings.
Worst of all, I have a migraine and a low fever. I think it’s malaria. So, I’ve cancelled all activity and am trying to feel better. Might as well be on the ‘net.
