Yes, they do, but it may have been in A/G mode, or scrolled up or down and did not see the Cessna. Or the pilot was involved in a visual air-to-air engagement.
Not directed at you:
We.
Don't.
Know.
What.
Happened.
Yet.

Vector control. . .what is that?

By this time I would expect fighter Radar to be able to do multiple missions in one unit if they don’t have multiple RADARS (like the old ECM pods). Weapons RADAR, Bogey RADAR, Weather RADAR, Nav RADAR, etc.

Straight at you? That mean a collision course. Big aircraft are easier to see, as opposed to a small aircraft.
B-1 likely did not “see” you until they could pick you up visually.
I hope you were at least talking to someone, not under ATC control, but talking to someone to let them know you were in the MTR. At any rate, unless it is restricted or controlled airspace you need not talk to anyone, but is a good thing to do.

Airplanes can fly, it’s the helicopters that are questionable.

Sadly, no.
They have a radar. Have no idea what a “bogey” radar is, or a “Nav” radar or a “Weapons” radar.
They have an A/A and A/G mode and that changes the type of returns and images and information.

Yeah. . .I hear they beat the air into submission.

Vector control is any method to limit or eradicate the mammals, birds, insects
or other arthropods which transmit disease pathogens. The most frequent type of
vector control is mosquito control using a variety of strategies.

Helos don’t fly, the ground is rejecting them.

Yeah, those guys screwed up big time. . .didn't update their charts so missed marking the cable and were flying well below the national minimum altitude.

There used to be ground following RADAR systems on F-111s. I'm sure that there are target acquisition and tracking RADARS used for sending missiles out. ATC has RADAR to find most things flying around locally and planes could too. Same with weather RADAR.
Look into what automobiles now have in the way of forward looking RADARS for anti-collision work.

You are talking about TFR, a specific mode on LANTIRN. Certain F-16’s can carry LANTIRN but not all, and most certainly not for all missions (like A/A)

” ATC has RADAR to find most things flying around locally”
And was the Cessna talking with ATC? In the MOA, if the mishap happened there, the jets are talking to each other and monitoring ATC. Some flights can not be seen by ATC (will not go into how that happens but it can and does happen by small aircraft as well as larger ones). And certain maneuvers cause the contact to be undetectable or drop off.
“Same with weather RADAR.”
We don't have “weather” radar. No need. Nice to have on a boring cross country but not needed for missions. Bottom line is we don't know what happened, we have no details and no usable information other than two aircraft collided. All comments trying to assess blame are speculation based on nothing.

Was wondering the same thing, still haven’t heard. Glad the military pilot is ok.
