Fans at Florida’s Daytona International Speedway were having none of what some of them called “political correctness” this weekend and let the Confederate flag fly, despite NASCAR’s call for its removal.
Above tents and trailers at the Coke Zero 400 it flew, including a version featuring a menacing skull-faced rider with the slogan: “The South Will Rise Again.” It decorated clothing, tee-shirts hailing “Southern Thunder,” and adorned coolers, beer cozies and skin, in the form of tattoos.
And there were no apologies.

Daytona's Coke Zero 400 used to be the Firecracker 400 and it was run on July 4th for that reason. Then they sold the naming rights, changed to accommodate TV, lost their history.
Like selling the naming rights to the Statue of Liberty, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial.
No respect for tradition. no respect for fans, no respect for heritage.
Restrictor plates do not belong on cars or fans!
They should be flying the US flag as well as the Confederate flag and the Gadsden flag as well as these at this link.

The flag known today as the Confederate flag was actually the Army of Northern Virginia battle flag that was commanded by Robert E. Lee.

For NASCAR and all sports, it is the advertisers and tv networks that they placate, because that is where most of their $$$ are derived.
Audiences are just a necessary evil.
With most of these so-called issues, one should consider the advice of Judge Judy: “Follow the money.”

I was born in Wisconsin and have lived in Virginia for over 40 years. I never wanted a battle flag of the Army of Northern Virgina before. I will buy one now.

EVERY DAMN DAY, I see things out in public that offend me. However, I understand that I live in America and understand that we have a First Amendment in this country. We are not an Islamic, NAZI or communist state. I know what the First Amendment says and means and that the Constitution doesn’t give me a right to not be offended. I just deal with it and move on. After all, I’m An American.
Those days have, I believe, come and gone.
The metrosexuals have moved on to something else; don’t have the slightest idea what it would be.
NASCAR continues to anger / erode its original fan base.
My NASCAR heroes are Ned Jarrett, Lee & Richard Petty, Curtis Turner, Fireball Roberts, Joe Weatherly, et al.
I have no idea who drives those cookiecutter cars these days, and don’t care. I tried watching; I even attended a few races (at Dover, mainly). The noise and speed were fun, but these guys make appointments with each other to pass.

More precisely, NASCAR has to get through the Left wing phalanx guarding the airwaves.
Let them have their own organization ... they could call it the American Society for Stock Car Automobile Racing ...
