Looks like the Rooskies reoriented towards Muslim outreach a bit earlier than NASA.

The Apollo launches as well as the Shuttle launches were made at launch pads 39A and/or B; SpaceX is building something new at 39A for the Falcon Heavy launches, the first of which is scheduled for late in 2015. Older NASA programs (Mercury and Gemini, various unmanned boosters) had launch sites designed for them, and each program overlapped a bit, so new launch facilities had to be built for the upcoming new program.
