National Review Editor: Sorry, Donald Trump Has a Point
Breitbart ^ | July 1, 2015 | From Rich Lowry, Editor of National Review, at Politico Magazine:

Posted on 07/02/2015 3:45:45 AM PDT by Cringing Negativism Network

I was skeptical that Trump was really running, but now that the boats are burned behind him, watch out. He is set to be Herman Cain squared — an early-nominating-season phenomenon with a massive media megaphone.

As for his instantly notorious Mexico comments, they did more to insult than to illuminate, yet there was a kernel in them that hit on an important truth that typical politicians either don’t know or simply fear to speak. “When Mexico sends its people,” Trump said, “they’re not sending their best.”

This is obviously correct. We aren’t raiding the top 1 percent of Mexicans and importing them to this country. Instead, we are getting representative Mexicans, who — through no fault of their own, of course — come from a poorly educated country at a time when education is essential to success in an advanced economy.

Trump is speaking the truth.

Everyone else is so far down the rabbit hole, in the meantime, that he's gaining traction.

Keep on speaking up Donald.

I like the way Trump presents things.

It is very refreshing. :)

As I read somewhere last night, Trump’s appeal is ‘He can’t be bought and won’t back down’.

“As I read somewhere last night, Trump’s appeal is ‘He can’t be bought and won’t back down’.”

As I wrote in a different thread. Trump is speaking to the only issues that I have any interest in for 2016.
Close the border, better trade deals, jobs for Americans.

Sounded pretty convincing to me. But maybe I'm just an idiot.

No amount of convincing will change the policies of a political movement to destroy the US. Trump is an idiot like Br’er Rabbit is an idiot. He says what the compromised will not say.
I trust there is no little boy in his mommy’s basement scratching “Trump” on his gun stock and dreaming of the day his name will be in lights, or large type in his local fish wrapper. The Progs need only find him.
And if there is how do we stop him? To arms! To arms! must be our motto if we are to be protected from the madness that engulfs us.
Note: It is those who wish us dead who want to get the guns out of our hands first.

Trump is an ‘idiot’?

A billionaire with hundreds of millions at his disposal.

Save Marla Maples, his taste in women is extraordinary.

Relatively few in this world have what it takes to survive in NYC’s rough and tumble business climate, much less thrive in it. He’s shown he’s no slouch in the business world.

The Donald obviously has a love for this country and is willing to put it on the line for his kid’s future. Compare that with what other billionaires are doing like Gates and Bloomberg - have you taken not of the things they’re engaged in? It’s not for the good of the country or the American people, put it that way.

Idiot? Hardly.

Never thought of Mexico as even having a top 1%. We visited there in the early 70s. It was a hole. Sewage in the streets. Cops with machine guns on the beach. It’s all about our money. I really think they hate our guts because their own country has done nothing to bring them out of the dark ages.

that’s part of it.

The other is he says things we’re all thinking and know to be true. Frankly, it’s about time.

Trump is our only hope for the future of the country we used to know as America.

Come down here to South Texas and you would think you are in a foreign country...mainly Mexico.

Assimilate? Adopt the American ways? Conform to the American customs? Obey law? Speak English? and on and on and on.

I was born down here 68 years ago and the Mexicans of old were generally hard working, law abiding and in general, good citizens. Crime was minimal. Come to 2015 and we are infested with criminal activity, young men don’t work, welfare is the free ride for over 60% of all Mexicans, general social manners have been totally forgotten and now with the new batch of criminals coming over the border we even enjoy the fact that they walk up our alleys going through our trash cans finding aluminum cans and any other thing that can be used to obtain cash...like credit card info and bank statements and other papers that may be a means to commit fraud.

There have been times in my life that I (and my family) were in dire straights but I took it upon myself to work harder, improve my skills and work my way out of it. That is something these people have no intention or will to do. Why? Simple, our welfare system that the American Mexicans use to live the good life off the backs of people like me is there for the illegals too!

In my opinion Trump is our only hope since our entire political system is too corrupt to fix itself.

I agree with you 100%.

Both of our parties are completely sold-out. They are selling out American jobs, and selling out America as a whole.

Nobody is saying a word. And it continues, and even accelerates.

Except for Trump. Nobody else.

Though I will say, Cruz is closer than anyone of the competitors.

Trump is completely right.

Completely.

I think his kids and grand kids are on his mind more than anything. What kind of an American hell hole will he leave them? I truly believe he think he can make a difference in our country. Trump is a builder not a destroyer like president oreo. I think we are going down hard so if it's are last fight, my money is on Trump.

I see no way Trump can get elected. He rubs too many on both sides of the political divide the wrong way. He seems all about the deal and his ego will lead him to trade *anything* just so he can be seen holding the winning hand in a deal, no matter how bad it is for eveyone else. And the only reason he cares about the deal is purely for the competition. As we have already seen, if his ego is even slightly bumped, he throws a fit like a child.

However, he will serve a useful purpose due to his celebrity status as the media will push his talking points to the forefront where they will be debated on camera or mic. Whoever does get elected will have to address the issues somewhere along the campaign and go on record with a position.

There’s a word for that group of people, peasants. America has never had a peasant class. Well, now we do.

Here is how I see a Trump presidency:

Work hard
Get rich
Have fun
Teach your children to love America

Mexico, like most of southern europe, has a day nappy time for the grown ups.

The culture is one of "take it easy" let Pedro do the work, and we will all eat and drink the fruits of his labor.

Just communism with a different label.

I’ve been saying for the past 6 months (along with my tag line), that getting the WHITE VOTE is a winning strategy.

Cruz has come about as close as a Republican who still needs to raise money can get (maybe even closer). Trump doesn’t have that concern, and therefore he very well may be the next president.

Particularly if he anger Republican voters on other issues.
