Makkah municipality seized about 3,500 gallons of fake Zamzam from a warehouse in Al-Kaakiya neighborhood in Makkah.
The raid also involved secret police and other related departments. Officials seized fake Zamzam stickers that were placed on these gallons.
A number of people of different nationalities were arrested. Head of the market department at the municipality, Muhammad Al-Osaimi, said that the demand on Zamzam water during Ramadan increase and as such people take advantage and fill Zamzam containers with water from unknown source.
He said that the municipality teams work around-the-clock to check on any violations of health and security regulations.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia "Zamzam" redirects here. For the Iranian soft drink, see Zamzam (soft drink). The Well of Zamzam (or the Zamzam Well, or just Zamzam; Arabic: زمزم) is a well located within the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, 20 m (66 ft) east of the Kaaba,[1] the holiest place in Islam. According to Islamic belief, it is a miraculously-generated source of water from God, which began thousands of years ago when Abraham's (Ibrāhīm) infant son Ishmael (ʼIsmāʻīl) was thirsty and kept crying for water. Millions of pilgrims visit the well each year while performing the Hajj or Umrah pilgrimages, in order to drink its water.

Easy way to test it. If it contains dangerous amounts of arsenic it is the real deal, if it is too pure it is fake.
