Dogs were domesticated from wolves at approximately 15,000 B.C., when humans still lived as nomadic hunter/gatherers. The current theory is that wolves were initially attracted to human camps as a source of food. They may have been able to scavenge from human garbage, (e.g. the remnants of slaughtered carcasses), The wolves may have proven useful to the humans by warning of unknown humans or animals nearby at night. Driscoll (2009)
Foxes make something like 20 different noises usually they have a kind of cough.
“The wolves may have proven useful to the humans by warning of unknown humans or animals nearby at night.”
And they still do.
I suspect that might be why so many of “them” want to get rid of our dogs.
Photo #9!
:)
I have a fox that regularly visits my Koi pond, bird and squirrel feeders in my back yard.
He tried to chase a squirrel once but to no avail.
Can you attract them with a feeder? Squirrels aren’t working very well :-O
That video of the dancing dog at the end is just absolutely amazing and heartwarming!

Thanks!
Number 4— dogs also train their owners to follow their eyes, too.
One of my dogs will nudge me and then keep casting her eyes to her laser light that’s kept in the bowl on the counter-top.
It’s very much like when a friend tries to tell use their eyes to warn you of something that they don’t want everybody to hear.
She’s very animated with her nudge-stare at bowl-look back at me and then cast her eyes back—she is pointing with her eyes.

Humans may instinctively understand dogs barking
Lassie would bark at Timmy. Timmy: "What? Gramps fell down by the lake and he can't get up? He was unconscious for 4 or 5 minutes? Ok. Let's go."
I always thought it was pretty amazing.
Rufus is very communicative. Easy to figure out. Standard Poodle age 6
I think this was covered quite a bit in “The secret life of dogs”, a BBC video on Youtube...
We have some foxes that visit our property too. Discovered that they have a sweet tooth. My wife puts out some dry Honeycomb cereal along with other food. They always go for it first.
Thanks...will have to check that vid out!
