Whatever else the Confederate battle flag might represent, and represent positively with virtue and good reason, etc., that flag represents mostly an FU and middle finger to those who support the end of slavery, the end of segregation, and the treatment of black-skinned persons with equality and humanity and Christian decency.

Yes, it does stand for federalism and bravery and defending oneself from oppression and history, but to fly the rebel flag on public display in celebration and pride is, at the end of the day, an act of public indecency. It is impolite. Find some other symbol.

And yes, the recent uproar over the Confederate flag is a manufactured uproar, organized by the Alinsky left and carried out by the Progressive media. But let’s not take their bait on this one. Put the flag away and fly instead a flag of individual liberty, rule of law, property rights, free markets, and devotion to Christ our God.

You couldn’t be more wrong! Every statement you made is flawed and represents your indoctrinated NORTHERN viewpoint and the viewpoint of people intent on causing strife and division where none exists.
In addition, Lee’s battle flag does NOT stand for Federalism! It stands for the battle to secure for all time STATES RIGHTS. Yankees represented Federalism. We see now the Federal Control over our very existence as human beings, and most of us don’t like it! I have ample reason to disrespect any demands to put away the Battle Flag because you claim it’s an act of INDECENCY, and PUBLIC INDECENCY at that. What I call indecency is the coloring of the White House with the GAY FLAG. GAY PRIDE PARADES are to me OUTRAGEOUS. There is nothing decent about “GAY
MARRIAGE” as it represents the elevation of sodomy to the highest state of human existence.Public Indecency has been eliminated by the Supreme Court. It doesn’t exist anymore, thanks to liberals who have destroyed this country. The battle flag is perhaps a portent of things to come and the liberals are afraid of it. It represents what this country used to be. Honorable and Christian, instead of Dishonorable and Satanist. I don’t intend to be “POLITE” to those who have destroyed the country I love.

You are trying to play both ends against the middle. You are trying to say, find another flag. What flag? It doesn’t exist! You are accusing the liberals while at the same time agreeing with them. You can’t have it both ways.

Yes, it does stand for federalism [sic; anti-federalism?] and bravery and defending oneself from oppression and history, but to fly the rebel flag on public display in celebration and pride is, at the end of the day, an act of public indecency. It is impolite. Find some other symbol.

Please help me to understand "where you are coming from" and what - exactly - it is you mean.

1. Are you advocating the passage of legislation to prohibit, fine, or otherwise regulate or sanction the flying of certain flags? If so, then what flags, exactly? The "Stars and Bars?" The "Confederate Battle Flag?" The Hammer and Sickle? The Half-Moon? The Mexican Flag. The "La Raza" Flag?

2. When did you come to this realization (that it is "an act of public indecency / impolite")? Would you - without prompting - honestly have made that same assessment five years ago, upon, e.g., accidentally catching a few seconds of a re-run of "The Dukes of Hazzard" or seeing a hippie traipsing down the street with a Confederate patch sewn to the butt of his jeans? What about fifteen years ago? 40 years ago?

Regards,

Go ahead. Put your flag away. You have that right.

But don’t presume you can tell me what flags I can fly or what symbols I hold sacred.

You sounds like a liberal - telling everybody else what to do.

Your entire post is contemptible and full of lies.

Your post indicates vile weakness in the face of tyranny.

If you have any decency you would seriously study the history of the flag.

Since when? You’re an ignorant idiot if THAT’S what you think. Slave ships were registered to the north and the north had slaves and significant Jim Crowe laws, not to mention Lincoln himself said in his inaugural address that he did not wish to abolish slavery, and he wrote many times that blacks were inferior to whites and should not be allowed into free States nor to marry whites.

You have no idea what the Confederate Battle flag represents, but it sure doesn’t represent the crap you said.

Pop quiz. Were more blacks sold into slavery under the Confederate flag or the damn US flag. Hint: the confederacy only lasted 4 years.

There were many more slaves held for much longer under Old Glory than under the Southern Cross. If the confederate flag is racist, then how many hundred times over is the US flag racist.

The confederacy did not introduce slavery to America. The USA did.

The confederate politicians did not codify slavery in the USA, they just maintained what US politicians codified.

I understand that most of the 400,000 blacks brought and sold into US slavery went to Southron states, but nothing changes the fact that from 1776 to 1861, those were Southron UNITED STATES under the STARS AND STRIPES.

if you want a true symbol of slavery and oppression, well there you go.

Pop quiz: Ask yourself how much Indian genocide occurred under the Confederate flag? You want a symbol of racism? Ban old Glory and go from there.

I respect both flags myself, and would ban neither.

Being from Canada I still am puzzled and frankly clueless about what the civil war meant and means today. I was at one point edging to the point of view of the confederates as victims of a North that wanted to impose trade deals on the whole country that screwed the South. But the more I learn about how entrenched southern society was with the pure evil of slavery, I have to say I side with the Yanks. And I still have a really hard time knowing the Washington and Jefferson had slaves of their own. Maybe we can’t judge men of the past by our standards now?

Spoken like a good totalitarian. But then Marx and Engels were big fans of the Union so why should things change.
