I took my mini tanker bar out of my truck and told the assistant manager to tell me when I had reached $183 in damage to the two delivery trucks parked there.
I got my pipe order corrected and was asked to never come back. It was an un-necessary request....
You could always buy a smaller mower....
Talk to a lawyer. A strongly worded letter from him could help. If you go to court and want any kind of chance at winning you MUST have a lawyer. Lowe’s lawyer will be there.
America has returned to the days of Buyer Beware. If you open the packaging it is yours in many cases. We are all gonna have to be much more careful in our purchases. If there is a critical requirement, you must be damn sure it is met before you buy. That often means measuring yourself rather than depending on the stated measurements.
If you get stuck with the shed, you might replace the doors with wider ones, maybe by ordering replacement doors for the next size up & cutting some plastic, or make yourself some wooden doors, both requiring a little home engineering.
I’m thinking you could replace most if not all of the front walls & door with wood. Screw the plastic sides into a wood wall frame. That might look better than cut plastic.
Or take the doors off & chain the mower if security is an issue.
You overstepped the bounds demanding the compensation for the foundation. Return the shed broken with written instruction from the store manager. Either way you had to build the foundation bigger and from their point of view not their responsibility.
Take it apart with a chainsaw and return it. Should be able to take it back in the trunk of your car.
Joe in post #2 is right.
My experience is that (here at least) they make every effort to be accommodating.
And don’t go ‘the moral route’. You’ll be branded a nut-case at the store, and they’ll probably be correct. This is simply a business decision.
By way of example, I bought a bunch of LED bulbs there, and some have burnt out, others are dimming a little more every day.
The ones I’ve taken back have been replaced without question, and without receipt. I expect they will do it again in the future.
Big disappointment, those LEDs. Hasn’t been even a year.
Stop calling. Stop hand wringing. Take it down the best you can, broken parts and all, and truck it back to them.
Collect your refund check.
It really will be that simple.
Did I read that you want to be compensated for the cement?
No way.
Don’t waste money going to court.
You should have done more homework.
The concrete was tuition costs.
Take it back, be civil, try and repair the damage you’ve done.
You may need their goodwill sometime down the road. You may not think so today, but burning bridges over this would be stupid. Put the flames on the one that is burning.
Did you use a credit card? Some credit cards have buyer’s protection included (even if your purchase is broken soon after you buy it).
I broke a lens filter within a couple weeks of purchase and was able to make my claim. It might at least serve as a backup plan if disassembling the shed does indeed break some connections and if the store refuses to accept the return.
I've been to the local Home Depot a couple of times. They always wanted to argue with me about giving the 10% discount like their competitor Lowe's does without a hassle. Lowe's has better selections and better customer service. I see no reason to ever go back to Home Depot.
Go to customer service. Ask for the store manager. Use this store locator, your manager’s name is on the listing.

Then there is this worry; from their site [hope you didn’t use a credit card] :
Attention HomeDepot Visitor
We want to make you aware of a significant incident that has occurred. There was a massive system breach at Global Payments, a company that processes credit card transactions for a number of companies, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and other major credit card brands. Files containing personal credit card information were compromised.
We are urging you to check your credit profile for any activity that you did not authorize.
Would have taken it apart and returned it broken if need be. Would not “negotiate” and also would not shop there. Loews is the better place all the way around.
The snap together pieces may come apart easily with the direct application of heat from a blow dryer.
