I've Been A Bit Quiet Lately
Free Republic ^ | 28 June 2015 | Windy

Posted on 06/28/2015 12:16:00 AM PDT by Windflier

I haven't been commenting much lately because my mind is simply on overload right now. I'll bet yours is, too.

About all I can say is that, now isn’t the time for me to ramble, but to digest, contemplate, plan, and prepare.

I’ve spent years at this forum spilling my guts and taxing my synapses. The exchange of viewpoints with others, and even the verbal fisticuffs, has been rewarding in many ways for me.

But recently something’s taken hold of me that’s hard to explain. I guess I’ve quieted down due to the storm clouds I see gathering on the horizon. The low rumble of thunder is just barely heard, but I feel it in my bones. I’ve stepped back from the roundtable, and am now intently gazing at what approaches from the far distance. I can’t take my eyes off it. It’s distracted me from the hearty and boisterous conversation around me.

I’m obviously not the only one who notices, but unlike most, I’m having a hard time talking about it. My survival instincts are kicking in, and all I can seem to think about is doing what I must, to protect my family and myself.

Well, enough with the poetry. I know you get my drift.

I still harbor a great deal of hope that we can propel a conservative champion into the White House in 2016, and help to end our collective nightmare. I've become convinced that Ted Cruz is the one person who has the capacity to unite the good and decent people of this country, and that he's a man who has the requisite courage and backbone to do what must be done to rein in our tyrannical government. I am backing him 100%, and will do everything in my humble ability to see that he becomes our nominee.

For one, Ted is the very first candidate I’ve ever sent money to. Considering the fact that I’ve been voting since 1972, that’s saying something. The way I see it, this is our very last chance to steer the ship of state away from the rocks before she finally crashes, and I have got to do what I can, to avoid what will surely follow, should we fail. I do not want to look my teenaged children in the eyes in a few short years, and say, “I’m sorry kids. You shouldn’t have to risk your lives to save your country, but my generation was just too weak to keep things from coming to this.”

Although it’s incumbent upon me to stay up to date on the tragic unraveling of America, I’m doing my best to not become completely overwhelmed by the course of events. I’ve got a business to run and a family to provide for. That comes first, above all else. That, I will do, but more and more, I look to the Founders for guidance in these bleak and horrible times. Their personal stories, and the examples of heroism they provided, give me hope and strength to carry on in the face of a tyranny they would recognize at once.

In the past, I’ve prayed that our generation would not be called upon to earn our freedom as our forefathers of the 18th century did, but more and more, it appears that that hope is vain. Every day, a new page of history is printed, which in retrospect, will prove that our darkest fears were right on the mark, and that we were right to posit that this generation would either fail, or would pass the greatest test a people can face. I think we can agree that such thoughts are becoming more crystal clear by the day.

I was just telling my wife today, that I wish we could just pick up and move to our rural dream home. Right now.

If only it were possible. I need that solitude and sense of safety. Alas, it’s not to be — at least not for several more years — that is, if things in this country can even hold together.

One saving grace is that I’m in the great state of Texas. As I’ve often told my wife, if things in America go completely sideways, we’ll be safe here, because if (God forbid) the S does HTF, things will straighten up in Texas overnight, as the good men of this state WILL stand tall, and they WILL do their ancestors proud. My certainty about that outcome is just as strong as my gut certainty about the horrific trajectory of current events in this country.

I think every thinking patriot on FR is on the same page with this. It would be a wonderful thing if the ‘other side’ would simply let us be, but they won’t. They’re going to continue pushing until something breaks. It’s just how they roll.

In my heart, I honestly feel pity for them, because when they finally light the match on that prairie fire, no power on God’s green earth will be able to put it out.

Me too. Eldest of seven. I blazed the trail for all those punks to follow. And they still can't beat me in a foot race! LOL

Glenn Beck is going to Birmingham Alabama, 8/28-29 to take an MLK-type stand.

Wrong place. Birmingham isn't where the devil resides. It's DC, and he needs to show up with five million pissed off patriots, if he intends to create any sort of beneficial effect.

Still, it's better than doing nothing. I'll give him that.

As far as your original post, you spoke my heart.

Thank you. Most of what I wrote is what I've been sensing off other people for the last two years. Those same thoughts and feelings have been slamming me for at least that long.

I am going to take my leave now. But, first, let me recommend to you the novels of Brad Thor and particularly his Full Black in which his protagonist Harvath and the Carleton Group of ex-spooks and enforcers for which he works is up against (on behalf of the US) a George Soros type bent on nothing less than the total destruction of our country and ALL of its institutions (physical, psychological, economic, cultural, etc.).

Unfortunately, it does not seem that we have a Harvath, a Reed Carleton Group or much of any other instrument of protection. They DO have a Soros, however. What we do have is a God, an awesome God, and a heritage of textured and tenacious freedom.

Last word goes to you!

Anybody else been having weird dreams? The other night I dreamnt of huge eddies and tsunamis all around me. Having my gall bladder taken out in a couple days so the physical nausea combined with the SCOTUS nausea is about more than I can take. Please Lord, we need relief from the evil that is now quantum-leaping all around us...

The evil is overwhelming, but in the meantime I am praying for your comfort and your quick healing after surgery! Update when you are able.

And for God’s sake take the kids out of public school.
* * *

We homeschool our twin boys, and my excuse to the relatives is that it’s because they are both so twitchy and have trouble concentrating (true . . . not exactly a lie . . . they are, after all, normal eight-year-olds!). But the main reason we homeschool, that I don’t talk about to my local friends here, is because I don’t want them indoctrinated to be liberal, stupid, and hopefully gay or trans. I teach them history. We’ve talked about the Jews in Germany, and how some were able to look reality in the face and make the decision to get out early, though they left fortunes behind, while others stuck their heads in the sand (though to be fair, many couldn’t leave, for various reasons) and how that worked out for them. I don’t want to scare them at their age, but as they get older, I want them to realize that we are not guaranteed safety, and you have to keep your eyes open and your brains working at all times.

I’ve been fighting the culture wars since the 80s...we’ve lost them all. There’s no real FIX left. It’s going to be how we put this thing back together once it all blows up, and it’s going to blow.

What’s happening on FR is not depressing.

It’s TOXIC.

And it’s not just on FR - it’s everywhere on the alternate news sites across the digital landscape.

They feel it. YOU feel it. There’s something different about this coming season that hasn’t been present before. It’s a whole different vibe, almost seismic.

And seemingly for every voice that expresses it, there’s a louder voice trying to shut down debate.

We would do well to take out Solzhenitsyn’s works, dust them off, read them intensely and understand what may well be coming to the US and how to resist.

things will straighten up in Texas overnight

I have no doubt that things will straighten up, but I doubt it will be “overnight” as you say. Texas is truly unique as I’ve told my wife (she’s from Philadelphia).

I also believe that in the “straightening up” process it will be bloody early on but people will realize pretty quickly that it is in their best interest to get with the program.

Another Freeper said it feels like 1859 in a 1938 world. I thought that to be an apt description of the times we live in today.

Thank you for commenting and saying you were the source of the statement. I am sorry I could not recall your screenname when I mentioned it downthread.

We can be messengers...just yesterday, I was a messenger to 2 others, they in turn can become messengers and on it goes.

We have to keep trying to get the word out and keep encouraging others to stay the course, continue the fight, not for ourselves, but for our children and our children’s children...

I am not surrendering to these fascist bastards, no way, no how.

Yes, it’s toxic, people giving up and taking others down with them...

I’m not gonnna lie, I do feel demoralized, angry, sad, etc. at times. But by the grace of God, I wake up each morning, put on my britches and shoes and get out there and face the world...

It isn’t just the ‘all is lost’ mentality, there is a deep set almost feral anger in which many FReepers tear in to others over trivial differences of opinion. Many are behaving as a wild animal in a trap snapping at anyone who can help and more willing to gnaw a limb and die rather than to accept help from the ‘wrong’ kind of conservative.

Great idea. And necessary. I will google up a read on Sozhenitsyn. Perfect.

He has “been there, done that”— in spades.

Well said. I have had the same feeling, getting stronger here lately.

This thought keeps me sane amid the current state of affairs. There are MILLIONS of Americans that feel exactly the same way and they are everywhere from Red State to Blue. We have not given up, hell, we haven't even started yet. We are waiting and watching....and willing to fight when the time is right.

“You do know there’s a difference between noogies and nookie, don’t ya?”

Sounds like he’s been lookin’ for luv in all the wrong places. ;-)

Levity aside, I feel much the same about the whole national mess. Cruz or lose.
