James Swan parked his old Dodge alongside the South Dakota visitor center, where grungy hippies were sprawled on a lawn and passing around a feather. The two-dozen vagabonds are planning to unleash thousands of their brethren into the Black Hills for prayer and free thinking. But Swan wasn’t feeling the peace and love.
“We don’t want you here. You have no f—king respect for Lakota people!” the 54-year-old Native American yelled into a mic attached to his truck. His T-shirt bore another message: portraits of warriors who had shellacked the U.S. Army in the Battle of Little Bighorn, alongside the words “Original Homeland Security.”
“They aren’t listening to anybody,” Swan told The Daily Beast of the phalanx of graying flower children and their next-generation recruits. “This might work for them everywhere in other states, but they’re dealing with Lakotas now.”
“We’re a warrior society,” he added. “We don’t want violence, but this is our culture, our sacredness and we will protect it.”
Swan is not a tribal council representative and does not speak for the Sioux. That isn’t stopping him from fighting the Rainbow Family of Living Light, a counterculture group that’s held annual gatherings in national forests every July since 1972 to pray for world peace—and deliver drugs, nudity and sometimes murder and other crimes in their wake.
To some Lakota, the love fest threatens to desecrate the sacred Black Hills National Forest, where 5,000 to 20,000 hippies are expected to dig trench latrines, fire pits and kitchens. Swan and his band of activists with the United Urban Warrior Society say they’re planning a blockade and will remove the bums.
“You’re not a tribe,” Swan added. “You’re fricking fruitcake people.”

Well even on an American Indian level, gold isn’t the solution to everything. They are a spiritual people, the problem is they got hooked up with spirits that chewed them up and spat them out.
They know, however, that whatever their domestic troubles, these hippies are worse.

Lately I am seeing white haired old men with long pony tails, absurd tattoos etc., the kind of stuff that looks bad enough on a twenty year old but ridiculous on someone old enough to be a grandfather. It looks as if I will soone be seeing old women with absurd tattoos etc. They are lagging a little behind the men but eventually they will be just as absurd. Why, oh why do women want tattoos? They look bad on men but far worse on women. I am not trying to stop people from getting tattoos, I just wish they would get tattooed in areas covered by clothing. I hate having to see people with tattoos on neck, face, forehead etc, some just cannot seem to get enough as if they are ashamed of what they look like and want to cover their entire face and body. Thank heaven the piercing craze seems to have receded, at least most piercings do not cause permanent change and are not noticeable once the metal is removed, tattoos are far more difficult to reverse.
But this has so many possibilities for multiple “teachable moments”!

No, apparently this was agreed back in the 1870s that the Native people’s would get this land but then the Fed’s reneged. The Fed’s have the land and now the stinky hippies are doing what stinky hippies do.

We have a pool service and through the years we have had two upstanding young men from the area whose mission is to bring the word of God to the Indians. One built a Christian church on Indian reservation and the other is going to Pacific Northwest to be a camp councilor for reservation children. their church.

Hippies warned by those who hold the black hills sacred?
I would not wish to bet and lose, that more than a quantity of 1 hippie becomes coyote dinner, this year, for some strange unknown reason.

I’m with you on that. There’s nothing more unattractive than seeing a bride and bridesmaids standing in the front of the church in strapless gowns with hideous crap inked across their backs, arms, necks etc. It makes a person look so trashy. Now that summer is here, and they wear less clothing, I need eye bleach.
Find a nursing home with saggy old tattooed people and get her a volunteer gig (or at least a visit). Just let the image sink in, I wouldn’t preach at her because she may be in a stage where she will feel duty bound to defy you. Be subtle, but make sure she sees. Tattoos with underlying broken blood vessels work the best. Good luck.
