"Les Trois Cloches" reminds me of my father. Like Jean-Francois Nicot, the protagonist in the song, he was born in a community at the bottom of a valley in western Colorado, far from highways and population centers (Village au fond de la valle, loin des chemins, loin des humains), and he also passed away on a starry night.

Definitely Eva Cassidy is #1 for me — also Karen Carpenter — Linda Rondstat (a shame she’s a looney-bin) — and Pink

You are most welcome. I have a collection of notes to myself regarding great sermon illustrations hidden in Pop Songs. This is one of the best.
Another great one is in Bonnie Tyler’s - Total Eclipse of the Heart

Mado Robin. She is a bit freakish but a phenomenon to say the least. She llved from 1918 to 1960. RIP

Minnie Ripperton, Loving You
kind of a gay song, but her range is awesome.

three hundred and fifty plus and still going.
Just so everybody understands.
I have accused bp0622, on a number of threads as being, well, less than honest. Less than a true Conservative.
Maybe it’s me, but....
We will see.
I’m willing to play this out if for only entertainment purposes.
I MAY BE WRONG.

Billie Holliday, glad someone finally chimed in there. I am glad also that someone mentioned her. Can not believe I did not. She has always been one of my very favorites.
