Detroit...then and now...
Wow. Benton Harbor is the place the lovely Heathkits of my youth came from.
Now its a sewer.
Benton Harbor Heathkit RIP.
What is the racial breakdown of these top 10 towns?
Muskegon? Is it really that bad?
Back in the early 1990s I frequently traveled to Detroit on business.
Downtown Detroit.
When I told people I was going to Detroit virtually all of them said that I should get a gun.
During my stay a few of us would go out a night and walk around the streets, walk about 8 or 10 blocks to “The Joe” and “Greek Town”. What was striking was that we could walk in an 5 or 10 block radius and literally not see a single other person.
No potential victims = No criminals.
A a native of Flint I must say I’m glad I escaped those environs when I did...back in 1969l
I visited for a day in 1989...and thats been my total exposure to Flint since!
Except for that little crock-pot incident last year, we haven’t had a murder in our town in years. There was a family that owned a jewelry store who was targeted and all murdered at Christmas about 15 years ago, but the perps were from Detroit.
What is the racial makeup of these worst areas in Michigan?
Wom Benton Harbor....interesting.
Looking at the list. Some of it is spot on and some of it is crap. Grayling at 20 was laughable unless you're including barfights at Spike's as major crime. I grew up between Roscommon and Grayling. There's not a ton of money there and more drugs than people think, but you're not likely to get robbed, nor jumped. Mackinac Island at 24 was even more laughable. Saginaw was 25 and probably should be top 5, if not number 1.
I wouldn't put Jackson in the top 10 ahead of Mt Morris, Inkster, Ypsilanti, Ecorse, River Rouge, Buena Vista, Kalamazoo, River Rouge, or Pontiac. I'd compare it to Lansing where I once lived, although Lansing probably a little rougher.
