More than two decades after Steven Spielberg created a new era of the summer blockbuster with “Jurassic Park,” dinosaurs again ruled the Earth with “Jurassic World’s” $511.8 million worldwide opening — the best global rollout in history.

It’s the first time a film has ever grossed more than $500 million in one weekend, and Universal and Legendary’s “Jurassic World” opened at No. 1 in all 66 foreign markets in which it debuted.

I must say I am surprised.

I really have little desire to see this movie.

My grandchildren all seem to take an interest in dinosaurs. they have kiddie books about them, and they seem to get a lot of coverage in the public schools.

I was at a family dinner the other night, and noticed that the kids were watching a cave-man movie of some kind.

Maybe that accounts for it.

Me neither. There’s a cruddy theater that charges 6 bucks during the day.
I don’t know. Maybe in a few weeks after the brats have seen it.

I was thinking of seeing it, but it looks like one of those three hankie chick-flicks.

Watching it today, surprised how fun it is.
I assume some of Bryce Dallas Howard’s clothes will get ripped off in the second half... to advance the plot.

Am too old to waste my time and money on a franchise I didn’t care for in the first place. Waiting for something both new and good. Not holding my breath.

I really enjoyed the first one—still do. Subsequent ones, not so much.

But I do want to see this one. It looks good. And I think it might be best viewed on the big screen.

Watch Laura again. Or Out of the Past. Or Cornered. That’s what we do.

Mrs. JohnnyP has been recording old movies since 1990. We don’t get out much.

I question the significance of broken records concerting attendance and rollout. After all, after 20 since Jurassic Park there are simply more people that have been born to watch such things.

Saw it this afternoon. It was a good ride. Any better than the original? I’d say about even. The Howard lady was easy on the eyes but then I like Judy Greer when she is dolled up.

Hey, all of us old timers love dinosaur movies! From the silent THE LOST WORLD to JURASSIC PARK! Even the old Ray Harryhausen films!

My personal favorites are BEAST FROM 20 THOUSAND FATHOMS and 20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH. Lots of others in between.

And of course the Jurassic Park series.

Chris Pratt is the hottest actor in Hollywood - and I mean that in the box-office sense. This is his 3rd consecutive blockbuster in a row, and he’s already being groomed for the next Indiana Jones.
