In what way did anyone cover this up?
Do you think the Duggars owe it to the American public to advertise that these events occurred? Do you think that all juvenile criminal records should be made public? Do you think the girls’ names should be published along with their photos? Should they be interviewed on live national TV and asked how they feel about what happened to them?

Dude, you are so preaching to the choir here. I said in an previous thread that the parents needed to be taken to the field and horse whipped, well you know what? So does Josh! In fact if that father would have had any horse sense to him (no pun intended) from the get go that is what he would have done to Josh when he found out what the pervert had done to his sisters or any other girl at age four for that matter!
Or am I just becoming my Grandmother with this horse whipping business?
If this messy situation had occurred in my family the last thing I would do is agree to present my family on a national television show week after week.

How would you know how the victims are doing? Perhaps it is the Duggar’s obligation to have the victims call you up and let you know they are okay?
Maybe the victims deserve privacy and this publicizing of what happened is only going to hurt them more.
If you were one of the girls this happened to, would you want to be interviewed and put in the news as a victim of incestuous molestation?

The cover up was sending his abusing son to work a construction job away from home until the furor died down.
The cover up was letting the same son move back into the home of his victims.
The cover up was refusing to allow the real police to interview his pervert son until after the statute of limitations ran out.

I AGREE that the victims do not need the publicity. But once it got out it is hard to hide who it happened to. THE PARENTS are to blame for putting their daughters in the situation then AND now.
Your right, they should have thought about that before accepting a contract with TLC. However, I can only “assume” they believe this was behind him between Josh and the victims. Yet they forgot there was a police report that could have been made public. I find it odd a woman found a note in a book about the situation. Instead of taking it to the police she sends it to Oprah. Yep, if I learned of a crime I will be taking it over to Oprah - NOT!
They have police reports also.

I do not know what exactly you went through, but I was impressed by what Patriot Babe shared in post #34. Apparently she has found some healing after going through something similar.

This show is about a dude that turned his wife into a
human baby factory for over two decades. It's freaking weird.
That fellow congregant, aware that the church had done nothing and that local law enforcement had done nothing, and that the family was going on Oprah to promote themselves, sent a copy of that note to the show's producers.
The producers killed the interview and reported what they found to law enforcement.
Basically, the woman from the congregation found a way to go over the heads of the local Duggar enablers and seek justice.
We don't know what the note says or what the circumstances of the book borrowing were, but it may have been a "message in a bottle" from a victim to an old lady whom she thought could help her.
Large families aren’t weird in general. This one in particular is.
According to the report, Josh was sent to a Christian counseling center in Little Rock that was recommended by the elders in his Church. The Duggars knew the owner slightly but he was hardly a friend of theirs. Josh worked in construction while he was there and he received counseling from the center. He was there for three months, and there are no reports of him ever offending again.
Have you ever considered that the conservatives who worshipped these people, who sceeved out normal people like you and me, are also creeps.

My sympathy lies with his sisters and the other family victim. The victims don’t deserve to have the press gleeful dragging them along. It’s further victimization. Mom and Father Duggar couldn’t have possibly expected young victims to give forgiveness. I hope for the victims sake the sickos posting on their social media realize that those girls are VICTIMS and what they are doing harassing them is re-victimizing them and is WRONG and is disgusting.
I’m sure those kids didn’t get a voice on whether to do that show, that was Jim and Michelle. How stupid could they be and now it’s hurt their daughters again.
