Hustlers and people with little understanding want us to believe that todays black problems are the continuing result of a legacy of slavery, poverty and racial discrimination. The fact is that most of the social pathology seen in poor black neighborhoods is entirely new in black history. Lets look at some of it.
Today the overwhelming majority of black children are raised in single female-headed families. As early as the 1880s, three-quarters of black families were two-parent. In 1925 New York City, 85 percent of black families were two-parent. One study of 19th-century slave families found that in up to three-fourths of the families, all the children had the same mother and father.
Todays black illegitimacy rate of nearly 75 percent is also entirely new. In 1940, black illegitimacy stood at 14 percent. It had risen to 25 percent by 1965, when Daniel Patrick Moynihan wrote The Negro Family: The Case for National Action and was widely condemned as a racist. By 1980, the black illegitimacy rate had more than doubled, to 56 percent, and it has been growing since. Both during slavery and as late as 1920, a teenage girl raising a child without a man present was rare among blacks.

No Democrat today would dare say what Daniel Patrick Moynihan said back in 1965. Back then political correctness existed, but nothing like today. Today he would be crucified.
Who would subject an individual race to such treatment that the very family structure is destroyed for many forever along with millions of lives.. ??
Trick question?
No.
What a Great Society!
It’s a mystery /s
I guess, Negro dad’s are a double minority.
Omg! 3/4s can’t read or write? /s
Ask Hillary who won Moynihans seat in the Senate,if she knew then what she knows now would she support Moynihans paper?
The left is responsible for this.
Of course, the breakdown of the White family has also been progressing rapidly since the 1950s. Both breakdowns are the result of Leftist promotions of Egalitarian notions that people are interchangeable; that they are not individually responsible for the choices they make; that having to struggle to build a decent life is a grievance, not a necessity, etc..
We are either going to wake up to the demoralization of America, or we are on the ash heap or history.
Indeed, remember how Dan Quayle was crucified, based on saying that Hollywood and TV were pushing unwed motherhood on a TV show as just another lifestyle choice????
Somebody wrote a book about certain things you aren’t allowed to say in America. This strikes me as one such subject, the rate of illegitimacy in America, and among minorities in particular.
The way liberals and political correctness has framed the debate, you are being hateful and critical of single mothers if you say things such as children are better off with a married mother and father.
You are hateful and bigoted based on their criteria, so that ends the discussion right there.
Moynihan himself would be backtracking the paper and claiming he just did it because it was his way into Congress where he could help those po’ black folks.
Cloward and Piven are happy.
Moynihan was a liberal. Democrats today are neo-Marxists.
reading? writing? Aren't those just raycyst dog whistles?
Cloward is rotting in Hell. i’m sure he’s not too happy about that.
Piven will be joining him there soon enough.
IMO this is the one definitive cause for the social problems in America today. It has been going on for years getting steadily worse. This is the root cause for Ferguson, Baltimore and every urban area - the riots, crime, anti-establishment movement (police), etc.
And there is nothing Congress can do, white people are ill equipped to even discuss it, only the black community can solve the problem - and they don’t even recognize it.
