Maybe yes. I have heard stories about some of the few that have survived a jump off the Golden Gate. When asked what they were thinking on the way down, they said, I thought that I wished I had not jumped.
I doubt it. I've always tended toward activities that carry an element of mortality. Although you know that other people have died doing what you are doing, you know the odds are that you will survive. Twice I've gotten into situations where the overwhelming odds were that I wouldn't survive. The first time I thought, "oh crap, I went too far this time" but after a few seconds of panic I controlled my breathing to rid the panic, then took inventory of what I had to work with, evaluated my options and went for it. I threaded the needle on that one and made it. The second time I was a goner. Just before I lost consciousness I looked up at the most beautiful sky and the last thought I had before I passed out was that "it's a nice day to die." I was rescued that time and I chalk it up to divine intervention, my touched by an angel story.
“At least he didnt endanger anyone else. “
Yes, but someone (probably quite a few people) had to go and clean up the mess. And if he had his dog with him, that really was criminal.
And now the obligatory:
It wasn’t the jump that killed him...
Just one of those jumps would age me considerably.
Thanks for your insights. I’ve been in a few scrapes where I usually just came up with “Well that was stupid.”
Hoka Hey!

Naw, it wuz “oh sheet”.
Hold my beer.
Good point.
Good news, thanks.
It's that second "per second" that's the killer.
Accidents happen!
Actually it was probably o- s-—. Supposedly the number one thing people say in like circumstances when they realize they’ve screwed up permanently.
“32 feet per second per second. Its not just a good idea. Its the law.”
He fought the law and the law won.
Sometimes it makes sense to just be a “beta male.”
Final Score: Darwin 2, Base Jumpers 0
The dog did not go and has a new lease on life with a new owner.
Any idea why he, nor his co-jumper did not even deploy their paraschutes
