Question:Freddie Gray Case.Who Selects The 12 Jurors?"The Powers That Be",Or The Attorneys.

Posted on 05/03/2015 11:27:08 AM PDT by Cruz_West_Paul2016

So is this going to be another O.J. Trial? Where in the early stages half of the jurors didn't care for the evidence and had O.J. already declared innocent while the jurors in behalf of the Goldman were leaning for a guilty verdict and in the end set O.J.free? What will happen this time around? Will we have six black and six white jurors winding up with no decision, aka,"Hung Jury"?,Hopefully this will take place in the winter, last thing Baltimore needs are riots in the summer.

First, the case will go to a Grand Jury and then if there is an indictment, a judge will be chosen and a jury pool will be called. Once a jury pool is called, Al Sharpton is called and he selects the jury.

Change of venue is absolutely necessary for these officers to get a fair trial!

There will be no grand jury. Criminal charges have already been filed.

Jury selection is described by a French expression, roughly: `Oh dear’.

Of the six defendants, three are reported to be Caucasian and 3 are reported to be African-American.

3 of these defendants will turn evidence on the other 3.

“There will be no grand jury. Criminal charges have already been filed.”

They must have an indictment if they are going to trial.

Charges and indictment are two different things.

There won’t be a grand jury, but there will be a preliminary hearing before a judge, wherein the prosecution will present their case (or enough of it to who probable cause), and a judge will determine whether there is probable cause to permit the case to go to trial.

Not exactly - see my prior post. In felony cases, Maryland law requires either a grand jury or a preliminary hearing before a judge.

I dunno about MD (practiced in VA) but if they bring charges via Complaint they skip the GJ but do get a PreLim hearing.

It just kinda depended on the nature of the case for us as to which we would do which way.

Typical a pool of applicants are questioned by both the prosecutor and defensive lawyers. Both have some, if not total, veto power over potential jurors.

This case the cops need to do some time so if they are found guilty then the jury did their job. Nobody should get a broken back going on a trip to jail and I can’t imagine how he could have broken his back himself with hands cuffed behind his back. The whole thing is unnecessary and stupid. The others I agreed with but this one is a slam dunk. Jail for all.

You act like every case the cops go to jail. Actually it is quite the opposite. Most cops get off.
