The iWatch isn’t a time piece.

“I do not like anything on my hands. Not watches, not rings, not bracelets. iWatch is not for me.”

I destroy watches.

Good ones, cheap ones, tough ones.

Want to destroy something?...strap it to my wrist.

So... What’s his point?that it can’t be recharged in minutes?

Funny, no mention that it’s accurate to GMT within 50ms AND time zone & DST within feet.

"iPhones now have replaceable batteries?"

Do replacable batteries last as long per charge? I understand that the iPhone battery is the biggest thing in the unit.

Might get one for myself as my everyday watch. Sounds great!

I don't need a wristwatch to tell time...I have an iPhone that tells me that.

However, getting up to the minute information on my body vital and my steps walked, being able to see alerts on my wrist while I'm driving, etc., make the Apple Watch a very compelling device.

It’s a gadget that can also tell you what time it is.

I’m not all that up on tech, so possibly somebody can tell me what I’m missing here.

Seems to me the iWatch is unnecessarily complex and therefore expensive.

Is there any particular reason it couldn’t just be a “dumb” device, essentially an alternate input-output device for your phone? The functionality would basically be a phone app, and could be updated or changed easily.

Most people will continue to carry a regular phone even if they have a Watch. The “dumb” watch connects to the phone in your pocket via bluetooth or some other wireless method.

The tablet, if you look at it right, could be the same thing. Not a freestanding device, but simply an alternate input/output device for the phone in your pocket.

You always carry your phone, which has all the functions builtin. You have the option of accessing those functions through a watch or tablet when convenient, and doubtless other devices not yet invented.

To my mind, the key advantage of the smartphone is reducing the number of devices you need to carry around.

If you have all the data in your pocket, in the phone, you can then sit down with it at a large monitor and keypad/mouse when you need to get some real work done. For the foreseeable future, this device would probably require computing power of its own, not just being an extension of the phone. But all your data could be with you all the time, and backed up to the Cloud.

What’s wrong with this scenario?

My Casio will 4 years old on Father’s day.

My son’s Casio will be 5 years old on Father’s Day.

Both have survived all types of outside impacts/weather.

We wash them off, and dry them off with a towel. That is our total care.

We hunt, fish, kayak, hike, use power boats and other outdoor activities.

The watches do whatever we expect without any deviance or failure.

And what practical use is that accuracy?

How well does it tell time (accuracy again) when the battery is dead?

Does it come with a jewelers loupe so I can read the screen?

Does buying the plebian version make me as cool as the rappers that get the diamond encrusted gold bling iWatches gratis?

And, of course, Apple thanks you for your up-to-date health information. After you upgrade to the iWatch III, we'll even send alerts (to your wrist!) when we think you might be about to have a heart attack or stroke or brain aneurism!

And how do alerts on your wrist while driving differ any from alerts on your phone while driving? both require you to lift your hand and look at it.

It is just a better mousetrap that Android produced, what 3 years ago?

No. Try September 2013, shortly after an article appeared in June 2013 citing an Apple engineer talking off the record about what could still be in the offing on new Apple products that could shake the consumer electronics world, detailing what an Apple Watch might be like, several Android phone makers came out with watches:

As of 4 September 2013, three new smartwatches have been launched: the Samsung Galaxy Gear, Sony SmartWatch 2,[26] and the Qualcomm Toq.[27] PHTL, a company based in Dallas, Texas, completed is crowd-funding process on Kickstarter for its HOT Watch smartwatch in September 2013. This device enables users to leave their handsets in their pockets, since it has a speaker for phone calls in both quiet and noisy environments.[28] — Wikipedia Smartwatch article

The 2010 Sony Smartwatch was merely a bluetooth display for an Android phone.

I agree! I will take a watch with an hour and minute hand over digital any time. I can look at the hands and see the future of where I am expected be in a glance!

Your wish is Apple's command:

iPhones now have replaceable batteries?

All iPhones from the first iPhone had replaceable batteries. . . just not user exchangeable batteries. It costs under $15 to replace an iPhone battery.

"Yes. . . or longer."

I got the wires crossed. I was thinking about replaceable rechargeable batteries.

Let’s hope so. I have six ipods and one iPad that are useless to me. A waste of hundreds of dollars. Then again that is the business model for Apple.

Sorry to be cynical. But I have earned the right.
