Taking on Apple is dangerous business. You run the risk of not only having another U2 album automatically loaded into your iTunes account as a Godfather-like sample of what Apple can do to you, but getting the hordes of Apple fan boys and fan girls mad at you.

It is just a better mousetrap that Android produced, what 3 years ago?

Apple’s latest offerings are just better versions of existing technology — others’.

I find their hardware is usually behind too. They do a good job of making it work though.

Announcer: Someday, everyone will own a watch like this. Now, it is available only for the privileged few. The Mogasaki Corproration of Tokyo is honored to announce... Kromega III. [ lightning strikes ] A watch so complex, it takes two people to make it work. One hand wears the watch. The other hand presses the buttons that activate the 100% solid state multi-function digital quartz crystal micro-computer unit. And now, you're ready for the third hand to trigger the light-luminating dial to give you an alphanumeric readout accurate to within 9 a year. It's that simple.

KROMEGA III. Command-crafted in impact-resistant crushed chrome. It's no wonder that professional skiiers prefer Kromega III over any ordinary timepiece.

[ Woman's arm is shown with Lady Kromega III on her wrist ]

Woman's Voice: And I love Lady Kromega III. The sleek, space-age styling compliments any outfit. [ Woman's other hand presses one of the buttons ] And the clearly displayed perpetual calendar helps me to remember my many appointments. Would you mind? [ other person brings in a spare hand to operate the Lady Kromega III ] Thank you.

Announcer: Kromega III. It's like asking a stranger for the time.

Omega and Rolex will remain sponsors of sport events.

I love a good timepiece.

The handwork and exactitude are of such nicety and Apple can’t ever compete.

It’s an Iphone on the wrist and not something to trust your life with.

Still an amazing bit of tech.

Maybe they need to make a solar iWatch like the Citizen Eco-Drive. Love those....

I agree! I will take a watch with an hour and minute hand over digital any time. I can look at the hands and see the future of where I am expected be in a glance!

Eco Drives are nice, but too $$ for me. I got a "Tough Solar" Casio off Amazon for $35 that is a damn nice watch. Light case. Multiple time zones was cool when I last traveled, just told it where I was and it reset to the right time offset. Keeps perfect time and is waterproof for moderate diving. Always says "High" charge.

Cannot log on to Facefarque or Instadirk though.

I wear a Rolex my Dad purchased in 1954 for $100 at a PX in France when he was stationed there. I’m planning on giving each of my 6 kids ONE Christmas present this year, an Eco Drive watch. Something that will last beyond me with a little maintenance....

It’s an Iphone on the wrist...

I seem to remember a quote by a computer pioneering legend back in the 1970s about everybody will have an IBM 360(370?) on their wrist.

Can't remember the guy. Must have been a hardware guy that stayed in the corporate world (as opposed to Cray, Amdahl, etc.)

Just like the first iPhone model is nowhere to be found, I’m sure that you won’t be able to find the first Apple Watch model in a few years.

"Ya battery problems no apple support."

I think that Apple learns from its mistakes.

We’ve very much surpassed that.

My phone could send plenty of spaceships into orbit.

iPhones now have replaceable batteries?

The Casio Solar module # 3043 is an incredible watch that is water proof/shockproof.

It uses an atomic time keeping system.

It has a compass, altimeter, barometer, and other goodies.

The only fallable mode is its temp mode. The sensor over your
Wrist, and will read your skin temp.

The atomic time eliminates the excuses of those who want to start meetings/lunches/whatever early or late.

The price allows me to have an Android phone and tablet, and I can read the screens w/o reading glasses and a magnifying glass.

I do not like anything on my hands. Not watches, not rings, not bracelets. iWatch is not for me.

Kind of a silly article. The iPhone is only marginally a timepiece, just as a smartphone is not really a phone.

They’re both portable computers with infinite functions. Two of which are making phone calls and telling time.

Others that I regularly use mine for: timer, stopwatch, compass, psychrometric calculator, boombox, alarm clock, camera, voice recorder, GPS. Among many others, each of which I used to need a separate device for.

I suspect the watch, or something like it, will eventually take off. The separate phone, especially in the larger sizes, is just too awkward.

iPhone should be iWatch, of course. Sorry.
