The Apple Watch Is Neat, But That Is All

PEOPLE have been raving about the Apple Watch, so it is probably time for a rant from a devil’s advocate.

For starters, Apple’s smartwatch is neat, but that might be the only thing it has going for it. If the product’s intended function is providing you with around-the-clock health information, then there are a lot of roadblocks that need to be addressed.

Here are five: (...) 1. Battery life is as terrible as you would expect. 2. Too little screen for too much information. 3. It is too big. 4. Even the positive reviews are negative. 5. The Apple Watch could still fail. (...)

Well...I am.

Over the years I have come to look at things differently. I now regard cars bought by males as being for the purpose of Sex, as is Jewelry and such. It's all about Sex, and the attraction of a Mate. Well mostly, anyway.

The last thing I need are more tech trinkets, gadgets and apparatus with unneeded endless bells and whistles I don’t need or want.

I’m no longer impressed with all this garbage.

Yet you feel compelled to tell us about your disinterest

Us? It wasn't even posted to you.

Just a guess, but if ya can't handle the comments and opinions of others, you sure in hell do not belong on this site.

Actually, with the iPhone, there was already precedent on how a “smartphone” was going to work for a couple of years—the Palm Treo phone and Windows Mobile phones set the precedent, but their interfaces weren’t anywhere as elegant as what Apple pulled off.

An Apple Watch thread on a Negative editorial posted by one of the Freepers who more than mildly dislikes Apple.— PING!

Apple Watch negative editorial Ping!

If you want on or off the Mac Ping List, Freepmail me.

I have been threatened by a member of Freerepublic that if I post anything again, he will offer Jim Robinson $2000 to banish me permanently from Freerepublic on the grounds I am, according to him a "faggot," I am not homosexual, my girlfriend finds that uproariously hilarious, as do my two daughters. He claims this because I use Apple products and ping the 700 members of the Apple/Mac/iPhone/iPad/iOS ping list to articles about those topics. . . Which he maintains come from a "faggot" company. He maintains all Apple users are "faggots."

I challenge the members of the Apple ping list to each donate at least $10 each to the latest Freepathon to counter such extortion. I HAVE donated $100. Many members of the Apple Ping list are already rising to the challenge. Join them. Let's show the power of the Apple Ping list in supporting Freerepublic!

If you have ordered an Apple Watch,
MAKE A DONATION TO THE FREEPATHON!

There’s one point I haven’t seen raised in all the hoopla about sales...

They may have “sold” more than a million, but all of those people bought it sight-unseen, and all of them have a reasonable time frame in which to decide whether they actually want to keep the watch or not.

I’m guessing that a significant percentage (50%?) will decide they don’t really need to blow $350-$800 on this gadget.

If you’re thinking of getting one, you might want to hang on for a month or two. There might be a load of them available for a discounted price on the “refurbished” page of apple.com.

The Chinese and other Asians are addicted to electronic gadgets. They will be the biggest buyers of the Apple watch. Also they will be buying as a status symbol. For one upsmanship. The usual Apple buyers like gays and bored urbanites are sitting this one out

Your opinions sound so similar to the ones I heard when the iPad was introduced... guess it’ll be another multi-billion dollar industry.

Buyers will be unloading them on ebay soon. Selling them as used on ebay, garage sales and flea markets. When it comes to this fatuous fashion accessory, there is no there, there. So if you must have an Apple watch, check your local Craigs list in a few months

There are a lot of gays in the world. I don’t know why you’d want to stop at one man’s (Tim Cook) grief, sadness, bad luck.

I mean why not just revel in the thought that everyday, there are thousands ... Tens of thousands of gays whose parents just died, who have found out they have a terminal disease, that just lost their job or had devastating news that hurt them.

Wouldn’t!t that be enough for you? Why wait for the downfall, and grief of Tim Cook? You can be happy every minute of every day knowing that people are suffering.

The Gear and Gear S also preceded the Apple watch and does most of the same things, better. The phone link works well when I am at my desk and working because I can keep working and still take the call. While I’m out, I don’t have to have my phone on ring or dig it out of my pocket. I wear it whenever I’m out of the house and before I got it I hadn’t worn a watch for about 6 years.

The Apple Watch is just jewelry. It is a way of informing the world that “I’m better than you.”

It’s functionality is irrelevant to it’s true purpose.

Wow, you may have just enlightened me on a question I’ve had for some time...why do otherwise rational folks have what is (to me anyhow) an irrational, almost visceral, dislike/hatred for Apple products and users of Apple products. It’s sad that anyone would hold the mistaken opinion that Apple product users use those products to say “I’m better than you.”. The folks I know who use iPhones and/or iMacs use them for their technical excellence and VERY friendly UI. I’m sorry you don’t understand that.

Of course it’s always possible that there are some scattered strange folks who have an iPhone or an iMac for the purpose of saying they are better than others...just as there are probably scattered strange folks who own an Android phone or PC for that same purpose.

Thanks for the link. I actually found it pretty sad that someone would let his bitterness and anger consume him to the point where he felt compelled to lash out. Lashing out in directions that definitely were not deserving of such vitriol.

Bet you still don’t get the appeal of the iPad either.

I wonder what your opinion was of that device as it was being launched...

Even better, gays are anything but, and kill themselves and each other at an astronomical rate. Not to mention the chronic substance and alcohol abuse and shortened life expectancy.

Homosexuality used to be defined as a mental illness until the homofascists started a terror campaign against the American Psychology Association and its members.

You're right. Being a homo is its own just punishment.
