WXAN reports Austin City Council members debated a plan earlier this month to put restrictions on smoke from barbecue restaurants.
Council member Pio Renteria asked council to regulate the amount of smoke that comes from food trucks and restaurants within 100 feet of residential areas.
Renteria said residents complained to him that smoke coming from BBQ joints caused them to not be able to open their windows or enjoy their backyards.

These people need to go back to California.
Get a rope!
Messing with BBQ smoke is like putting beans in a bowl of Texas chili. Or putting ketchup on a hot dog. It just isn’t done!
Ah, Austin.
A little bit of Berkeley, right in the heart of Texas!
They should put electronic monitors on the residents, to make sure they can’t leave and infect the balance of the state...
...until they either cooked some of their own BBQ or bought some... I don't have a problem with BBQ smoke, except when I'm already hungry! ;-)
It won’t be long before this guy complains about the smoke coming from his neighbor’s bbq grill. Then from the fireplace. The next step is regulating the amount of smoke coming from private citizens’ homes.

Amen to that. Up here in Dallas on a balmy summer Saturday afternoon the entire
city smells like a BBQ smokehouse, and it will make anybody hungry.
It just ligers in the air, that sweet mesquite and hardwood aroma.
Reminds me of the ending of Goodfellas, when Henry Hill is in witness protection complaining that “I call out for marinara over linguine, and I get *bleeping* ketchup over noodles”.
Have they ever smelled NYC?
For benefit of Muslims?
Great, you stupid libtards want to shut down Frankin Barbeque in Austin, the best smoked meats this side of heaven...could end up start CWII just on this ‘tarding.
Austin area gets a net increase of 129 people a day. This town has gone down the drain.
At long last, have the econuts and super libs gone too far?
One of the most cherished traditions of Texas is Bar-B-Q.
I’m still waiting for them to devise away to curtail the “emissions” of forest fires and volcanoes.
Texans wanted their smoking bans and they got them. Now they can live with the completely expecdted continuation of the erosion of private property rights.
Many of us predicted this a decade ago, while a few FReepers celebrated. I hope those FReepers enjoy the rewards they can now reap.
