Some more auto acronyms, Chevy, Car Hardly Ever Vacates Yard. BMW, Big Money Waster, MOPAR, My Old Pig Ain't Running (my personal favorite, for those few times something went wrong with my 68 Charger). A friend of mine learned about Fiat the hard way when he had an X 1/9. It was fun to drive, when it ran right, but was very tempermental.

Carson had some years ago. One of my favorites was “ YUGO. In an accident, Your Underwear Gives Out.”

The VW Rabbit had the most honest name, ever.

Mine ran for a while.
Stopped.
Ran a few more yards.
Stopped.
Etc etc etc.

I had a friend with the same problem. He was always seeking my help fixing it, but I was frequently too busy dealing with the Lucas electric on my TR-6. Lol

Some of my old buddies back in HS always owned Mustangs and still do, we called them the “’Stang Gang”. They swear Ford stands for First On Race Day.

When I rode in that Fiat, whenever we came to a hill, I swear I heard a noise from the engine that sounded something like, “I think I can I think I can” ;)

FIAT, “Fix It Again Tony”:

My wife and I were looking to buy a car and were considering a FIAT X19. That night we were watching TV, I want to say Johnny Carson, but it may have been Leno. Comedian comes out and does the bit: Fix it Again Tony!!

First time we heard that expression. We opted not to buy the car.

On the positive side I’ve heard Ford as: First On Race Day. Though a certain Chevy-minded friend of mine amended that with “...yeah, outta the race and into the pits.”
